Yeah, isnt that a bummer? I am a subsciber, i originally signed up when it was Baseball Weekly, and now there is too much football in it. Particularly at the most important time of the year for baseball, September and October, this dammm thing gets totally full of football coverage. I have emailed them many times about this and of course gotten no reply.

That said, its still a good source for a lot of baseball news, although by the time i get it i already know most of what it says from the internet.

I don't really think there are any great baseball publications in print. You need to cobble together SI's baseball writers with some ESPN guys, and my favorite baseball internet publication, Hardball Times.

To answer the original question, the best coverage today is still Sports Weekly, although I admit that the coverage is less than it was a few years ago.

Who is to blame? Honestly, without starting an argument about it, I would say Bud Selig. One of the jobs for the Commissioner is to market the game, and to be sure that the game has proper news coverage. He has dropped the ball, because something is not getting done. The key decision maker are not involved in choosing what to cover. An example would be to establish frank and open communication with magazine editors, and the owners of those magazines. Selig has to do this for several editors to maintain the competition between magazines and publishers. He may have to negotiate with SI to ensure that cover stories appear in a timely manner, and in the proper depth. If he doesn't like that aspect of his job, then he should admit it and resign. Baseball needs to be marketed, not financed.

You got that one right, The Sporting News from yeasr ago, was the greatest. If I recall some year ago it would come out on Sundays. I can recall going to Buffalo Bison games at old Offerman Stadium and a guy would walk up and down the aisle selling that gem.

I like to read the Bleacher Report for baseball and other sports.

I too subscribe to SI and ESPN as well as Yankees magazine. I enjoyed SN's 2010 Preview. I can recommend Baseball Digest http://www.baseballdigest.com/ and I enjoy Baseball America http://www.baseballamerica.com/today/

  • Which magazine has the best baseball coverage?

In the past, I have subscribed to both Sports Illustrated and ESPN: The Magazine. In addition, I have thumbed through The Sporting News at the dentist's office. However, what does everyone think is the absolute best magazine for baseball coverage? I would love to here some baseball-specific magazines with which other posters (and myself) are not familiar.
