A new book from McFarland, Play it Again, zeroes in on how the history of baseball could have been different. The book focuses on great pennant races, post-season action, trades, injuries, player careers and rule changes and features commentary from a panel of experts. The panelists include journalists and historians, folks like Alan Schwarz, Bill James and Rob Neyer. Former players also provide their thoughts, stars like Bob Feller, Bobby Doerr, Brooks Robinson, Ron Cey, Bill Lee and Whitey Lockman.
The book covers the game's beginnings through the 2003 playoffs. The lineup of " what if " issues includes the Merkle incident, Bobby Thomson's homer, integration, the impact of World War II and trades involving Joe Morgan, Frank Robinson and Lou Brock, just to name a few.
The book also features Fantasy World Series pairings in an appendix.
