He was a little overly flirtatious with the cute girl StanTheMan was referring to. He was pitching to the Chicken, and the subject was different ways a batter could get a strike. The girl would innocently reward him after each strike. She evidently had a crush on him.

As a McGraw fan, you may well have been embarrased if you saw it as a kid.

Loved this show as a kid. I can only remember the episode on how to properly slide and how to prevent "rasberries" from occuring. (I never heard that term before or since that episode)

I remember the Pete Rose episode teaching us how to round first after a base hit to the outfield.

I was a little too old to catch this show when it was on TV but I found some tapes of it when my kids were little. I thought it was great. The Chicken and Johnny Bench were entertaining and funny enough to keep kids interested but they also got in some pretty good baseball tips. Probably best for 5 to 9 year olds. It's neat to watch them now and see the stars of the 70-80s like Ozzie Smith, Gary Carter, Dusty Baker (with the Dodgers, not as a toothpick chomping old manager), Dan Quisenberry, Graig Nettles, Jim Rice . . .
my favorite episode had an old man outside the field practicing his fishing casting--it turned out to be Ted Williams. He was maybe 60 years old but after giving the kids some advice on hitting ("Rogers Hornsby told me, 'Ya gotta get a good pitch'") he got in the box and hit--he still had an absolutely perfect stroke. Great stuff for anyone who wants his kids to love baseball and baseball history. Too bad they don't make shows like that anymore.

I remember the Ozzie Smith episode in particular. Also, the chicken was annoying and there was a cute girl on from time to time.

I can't say that my friends and I went outside and played ball in our blue jeans however...
