Oh How I Love the Reds

    There they are,
    The Cincinnati Reds,
    playing real bad,
oh how their pitching is dead.

    Graves, Weathers, and Weber,
    What a great bunch,
    26 earned runs,
    thats a little too much.

    Losing is how they play
    and not producing a lot,
    They say they try,
    its just bad luck.

    Jimenez, Aurillia, and Kearns,
    swinging real far,
    but all their hits,
    just aren't hard.

    So there they are,
    the Cincinnati Reds,
    so what do I do,
wear a bag over my head.

Now if I'm correct, 4 of the players mention no longer wear a Reds uniform, and Kearns is the only one who I know where he is at.

    The Sport I Love
I love to hear the crack of the bat,
    on the sandlot.
I love to hear the sound of strike 3,
that brings the home team up.
I love to see the ball fly,
    way out of the park.
I love to see that green patch of grass
in the middle of the baseball field.
I love to see thousands of fans,
all rooting for one more hit.
I love to see people, young and old,
    loving this game.
    I love baseball,
that is all I have to say.

    Homerun

Eyes squinted tight as he stands on the mound,
his focus is clear as his foot leaves the ground,
the ball in such fury released from his grip,
the batter takes a swing with one mighty rip
the crack of the bat connecting over the plate,
the ball going, gone the park it escapes.

just wrote this in about 5 minutes...

Thanks...though I still think it could have been better. Cliche, but true, "You are your own worst critic". LOL

Trust me, you should see some of the other stuff I've written. I do a lot of "fan fic" (usually short fan fiction stories, based on TV shows, movies or about celebrities) for a site that's...well...very adult-oriented. Men aren't the only ones who get side-tracked like that. It's just that a lot of women, for whatever reason, won't admit it. That said however, yes, my name is G-rated...I have 5 little ones (10 yrs. down to 21 mos. - oldest is a boy, the rest are girls)...and, at least so far, they all love baseball.

Great poem, cool quotes in your sig, although Hank must have been in a mighty PC mood that day
Being female...and a pitcher...I picked the best ones I could find.

Guess I am letting my feminine side take over a bit here.....maybe? Yes, it's cheesy, but after looking around here and reading, it just came to me so...here's a little poem I just thought of:

    Winter, Spring, Summer, Fall
All I think about is ball.
    108 stitches, gleaming white sphere;
Somebody get me a dog and a beer!
The smell of the leather, hide, grass and dirt,
Get me a jersey, not just any old shirt.
Baseball's the name of my favorite game.
Once the love's found, you're never the same.

Okay, you can all groan now. Hey, I said it was cheesy! LOL Maybe if I worked on it a bit longer than 2 seconds it would be better?
