    Phil Niekro

    Just trying to figure out what is the deal with his signing habits... I see tons of returns and some some RTS... I am currently 0 for 2.

    1st: Typed Letter, 3 cards
    2nd: Handwritten Letter, 1 card
    3rd: Handwritten letter, 2 cards, envelope where he can see that I hand wrote the letter on notebook paper (just to show that I put some time in to the letter)... we'll see what happens...

    What is your take on his signing habits? Do you think its just random or do you think that there is something he's looking for... I know no one could know for sure, but I was just curious! I am hoping to get two autographs from him, my buddy loves the braves and Phil when he was there... you all can guess what team's card I want him to sign for me!

    I know this won't help you out NOW, but years ago I got him pretty quick. Signed my 2 cards.
    Like you NOW I see a lot of rts from him. Not sure what the scoop is. Maybe he's grumpy?

      I had 2 RTS before he finally personalized a card for me. I think pretty much all the stuff he signs her personalizes, so make sure you mention your friend's name if you want to give one as a gift.

        It looks like he takes all the fan mail he receives and randomly chooses so many to sign while all the others get RTS. Maybe he keeps a log of who sends fan mail and it may take a 3rd of 4th try to get a reply. Who knows? I guess its the luck of the draw.

          He picks and chooses. Draw something on the outer envelope, like a baseball, to grab his attention, and write a nice letter.

          That's what I did when I got him (it took me 3 tries).

            That's what I was thinking...

            Its funny, my SASE has visited him 3 times but never been used... I had to add a 2 cent stamp on it since the first request... mayb

                    Add me to the club. RTS from Niekro this afternoon on my first try. A little disappointed, but also a little expected due to his signing habits. I will try again soon. Did anyone else send to him around the last three weeks or so??

                      I read that Phil Niekro has started sending out pricelists. I think these are reasonable prices.

                        I got him many years ago when he was coaching the traveling women's baseball team. He was in Greensboro. A nice guy and very friendly.
