  • Questions about some cards

Are the Topps 2007 Pepsi cards (Ichiro P64, Brian Mc Cann P5 (misspelled name) and Craig Monroe P193 ) worth anything? All are redbacks if that matters.

I've also got the Derek Jeter/Mickey Mantle/George Bush #40 that was released. I've seen it go for $200 or more. Any thoughts???

There are numerous Opening Day Team vs Team ($2.00 avg I think), Mickey Mantle Story, Mickey Mantle Home Run History, Joe Dimaggio Streak cards and Distinguished Service cards. Also some of the Alex Rodriguez (specifically #85 - $25 card?)

Is the Disuke Matsuzaka Japanese card, as well as the regular Topps 2007, worth much?
We've been going by the beckett magazine but have seen people selling/auctioning the same cards online for more than book value. My main concern right now is the Pepsi cards and the Jeter/Mantle/Bush card.

Any information is welcome. Thanks. [email protected]

When the Jeter/Bush/Mantle variation was first released last year it went up to $200 in some eBay auctions. However, that frenzy was shortlived. As soon as it debuted in Beckett listing at $20, people, for the most part, stopped paying ridiculous prices for it.

"Is the Disuke Matsuzaka Japanese card, as well as the regular Topps 2007, worth much?"

Your questions seemed mostly garden variety (Pepsi cards are worth slightly more than '07 Topps but not much more, the inserts you mention go from $1-$5, the Jeter should go for around $10-$20) until I got to this one. By "Japanese card" do you mean something like this?

Or do you mean something that looks like 2007 Topps Chrome but has 100% Japanese printing on it? The card I showed you in the picture (sorry for terrible scan quality...I need a new scanner) is Matsuzaka's first Japanese card...2000 Upper Deck Ovation Japanese. This tends to go for anywhere from $25-$35 on eBay and at card shows, though some card dealers will have it even higher. The Topps Chrome "all Japanese text" card isn't common either, but is only worth about $5-$10 (unless it's a refractor, in which case it at the very least books for more). Do you mean neither of these cards and some other different thing?

By "japanese card" I mean the printing is in Japanese (name on the front).

As for the Jeter/Mantle/Bush frenzy "dying down" it doesn't seem to have died down much. That or people just don't care how much money they spend on their cards now. Seeing as how we've got a local baseball trader/collector/appraiser (whatever you call 'em) that says he looked it up as being worth $200. Plus the e-bay auctions varying from $3 to $2-300 or more...I dunno. I just figured someone on here may know something more about it.

You mean his reporduction signature? If so, all his cards are like that.

See my other post. And may I add that I too have appraised cards for people? Not to mention...go over to eBay (and I don't mean the "Buy It Now!" only section). You'll find the average Jeter, ungraded, goes for roughly $10. A graded card may go for maybe $40-$50.
