I grabbed a few rack packs at Target today, but didn't really pull anything worthy of menitioning. It's been a while since I have seen racks though, I guess that was appealing enough to make me get some...

Okay, thanks. I thought I may have just been imagining things because I kept combing over that card and thinking "What on earth am I missing here?" Lol. I've seen someone else with that card, but didn't get a chance to look at the back.

I've never cared too much for basic topps packs, maybe cuz I never get any gu's, good rookies or autos. I know their a dollar cheaper, but theirs cards that look much better than these, such as bowman and topps heritage, and showcase(which I've heard fleer does not have license this year) I have always liked the first year or prospect cards, even though they're not worth too much, but you can always just get tons of those in Bowman.

I have seen 50+ boxes opened in the shop I go to and most collector's have enjoyed the set.

The signers of the Declaration of Indepence has done very little for the collectors. Most like the idea of Mantle.

Overall I'd give it about an 8. The fronts have feature good photography and the backs are clean and easy to read. I like the little cartoon on the back much like the cards from the 60's and early 70's had.

I've heard the set has a lot of errors. I haven't really looked for any in detail but I did notice two so far:

On Flash Gordon's card they went through the trouble of airbrushing his uniform from the Yankees to the Phillies but they left the team name on the front as Yankees even though they had Phillies on the back.

The other error is on the Mickey Mantle MMHR1 card (which occurs once every 3 or 4 packs!). It says Mantle once hit a home run 656 feet. It should be 565 feet.

I am glad they finally decided to re-issue card #7. It's a pain putting the cards in plastic sheets and having a empty space where the 7 is suppose to go.

I was wondering what fellow collectors thought about the 2006 Topps base set?
