  • Topps' Latest Joke...

Should you happen to open a pack and find a Japanese fellow whom Topps calls "Kazuo 'The Uzi' Uzuki" (never mind that "Uzuki" is just a nonsensical name...it's not even a word in Japanese) and claims hits 104 mph with his fastball on average, this is their latest joke. Unlike Poley Walnuts the Squirrel or Rudy with the Red Sox, I actually kinda like this one. We now finally have a guy we can call "The Japanese Sidd Finch." The card is actually part of the "create your own card" promotion and does have some merit unlike some of its prankish predecessors. If Topps wishes to keep playing jokes on the hobbyist, I would say this has been their high point and they should make their annual prank something along the lines of this.

I pulled this card in a pack last week. It was vaguely amusing, but still stupid.

Is Topps the only publically traded company currently being run by 8 year olds?

What's next, a limited edition set of "Cootie cards"?

Eh, I thought it was funny (especially compared to some of the garbage Topps gave us). Then again, I'm a big fan of the Sidd Finch article and thought it was sort of a tribute to Finch.

I actually never bust Topps packs, but always buy the complete set. UD on the other hand, I like opening up.

If this card is, indeed, part of Topps' Custom Trading Cards offer, I don't see how cards created there wind up in packs. They're not going to print extras above and beyond what Joe Sixpack orders and put them in their retail or hobby packs, right?

What am I not getting here?????
Please help. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last summer, and now I'm in a position where I need financial assistance. For the full story, please check out my GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/3874ea2d. Thank you.

It's Topps advertising for their own program, that's all.
