  • Does He Sign Thread

Figured I'd start a "Does he sign?" thread. We've had these from time to time...a place to ask if certain guys sign. With the regular season upon us, many of us are sending to active players. Let's see if we can't save each other some stamps!

Here's some guys I'd like to send to soon, anyone know if they sign or not?

    Billy Wagner
    Milton Bradley
    Huston Street
    Carlos Zambrano
    Xavier Nady
    Alfonso Soriano
    Ben Sheets
    Brad Penny
    David Murphy
    Jered Weaver
    Felix Hernandez
    Trevor Hoffman
    Dmitri Young
    Lance Berkman
    Roy Oswalt

    Save me some stamps! :cap:

Interesting thought... I'd like to add Scott Kazmir & Tim Hudson to the list.

      Put me down for...
-Tim Bogar (retired, but had the first hit I ever saw in person by a Mets player at Shea Stadium)
-Dustin Pedroia (Signed last year, but supposedly stopped. True? False?)
      -Mike Carp (Mets prospect)
-Chad Gaudin (Heard of a success with him last year, but that's it.)
      -Jonathan Albaladejo
      -Bobby Seay
      -Ehren Wassermann
      -Robinzon Diaz
      -Chad Bentz
      -Alexei Ramirez
"They put me in the Hall of Fame? They must really be scraping the bottom of the barrel!"
-Eppa Rixey, upon learning of his induction to the Baseball Hall of Fame.

Motafy (MO-ta-fy) vt. -fied, -fying 1. For a pitcher to melt down in a big game situation; to become like Guillermo Mota. 2. The transformation of a good pitcher into one of Guillermo Mota's caliber.

I sent a request to him a few days ago. Keep an eye on the success thread...if I get back from him, I'll post there. If I don't get back, I'd assume the rumor he's not signing anymore is true.

I sent Nady and Kazmir in the middle of Spring Training and got nothing back.
The one I was hoping for was the 8x10 I sent Nady.
At this point, I figure If I do get them back it won't be until next spring.
Or there gone and I'll add them to my failure list.

            Oh, forgot...

            What about the following guys...
-Adam Wainwright (Heard of sporadic success early in his career)
-John Lannan (I think he does, but just to make sure)
-Ben Johnson (Friend sent to him in ST last year and got back this year.)
-Jose Valverde (I heard he used to but stopped.)

*Not talking as a mod here, just from another ttm guy*

The only reason I never liked this type of thread was that Player B might sign 50% and he could be a hit or miss. Huston Street USED to sign great yrs ago. Nowadays? Who knows. So I could say: "Yep! He signs ttm." Member A here sends to him and never gets anything back, then turns around and gets ticked off at me for saying that he does sign. Just my two cents worth.

Now back to your regularly scheduled thread already in progress...

I was wondering if these guys sign....I thought I saw a success from Larkin during ST, might be mistaken.

                Andy Van Slyke c/o Tigers
                Barry Larkin c/o Nationals
                Vladimir Guerrero
                Roy Oswalt

I sent Van Slyke c/o home last June and havent got anything back, I have seen a few people post that he does not sign TTM.
"I see no reason why a small-market team like the Twins or Expos can't continue to remain competitive, just because it lacks players," Selig said.

I used SCN for the stats. Of this list I'd only send to Murphy and Weaver. I didn't bother to look up their stats because I know they signed a whole bunch last year.

Billy Wagner - Only 53% but I got him last year.
Milton Bradley - 55% but several recent. Maybe just ST tho
                    Huston Street - No
Carlos Zambrano - 54% but not at all in past years
Xavier Nady - 58% A little recently. Not good shot tho
                    Alfonso Soriano - No
Ben Sheets stats say 51%, but none in years
                    Brad Penny - No
                    David Murphy - Yes
                    Jered Weaver - Yes
Felix Hernandez - stats say 40% but not really any recent ones
Trevor Hoffman - eehh 57%. He has signed at least one thing this year
                    Dmitri Young - No
                    Lance Berkman - No
                    Roy Oswalt - Not really 29 %

Wow his success rate is only 27%. I got him last year, and have one oustanding from this ST. Normally I wouldn't pursue a guy again so quickly but I have a Jered/Jeff card I want signed by both.

I tried him last year during spring training with no luck, and sent to him via his home address at the end of March this year...no luck on that one yet either.
