  • What should I do with this?

I bought a pack of Topps Heritage. 8 cards right? Well here is what I get. 7 cards and a completely blank card. It's a card that is smooth and white on the front side and the normal paper texture on the back. It a normal card, just with nothing on it. I'm pretty bummed I got cheated a card. I'm guessing I could tell Topps and they would make me send in the whole pack. What do you guys think? I can post pictures if you want. Just wondering if this has happened to anyone else.
I collect any and all Braves cards and memorabilia. I also collect baseballs and Pre-1060's Topps cards.

Could it be the fake card that they sometimes insert to try to fool people into thinking is an insert?
Mythical SF Chronicle scouting report: "That Jeff runs like a deer. Unfortunately, he also hits AND throws like one." I am Venus DeMilo - NO ARM! I can play like a big leaguer, I can field like Luzinski, run like Lombardi. The secret to managing is keeping the ones who hate you away from the undecided ones. I am a triumph of quantity over quality. I'm almost useful, every village needs an idiot.

I thought that it might be. But then I counted the cards and that blank card counted as one of my 8 cards in the pack.

It's not unheard of. I bought a pack of Topps Heritage earlier this year and got 5 cards. I wrote Topps a letter and send them the empty pack. They send me a new pack.

Did you get an insert card in the pack? I think packs of Heritage that contain certain inserts only have 7 cards.

No insert here. Just 7 cards. When you sent them yours, did you send just the empty wrapper or the cards too? I was thinking about doing that.

I only got six cards as opposed to the promised seven (look at the back of a pack...they say only one card is omitted in packs containing relic cards) in one where I got a Richie Sexson game used jersey swatch. Apparently, Topps was a little lazy in terms of counting the cards they put into packs with '08 Heritage (I've heard of other '08 Heritage accounts of being short a card, but not in any other Topps product this year).

That's interesting. I wonder why it's only in the Heritage packs.

I sent just the wrapper. They were actually pretty quick getting back to me with a free pack (about two weeks).

I've actually sent stuff back to Topps twice already this year. In a box of heritage I got this year, I got about 25 cards that were badly miscut, top to bottom. I sent them to them and asked for a couple free packs, but they send me one-for-one replacements for my cards, which is fine.

I'm really interested in how you got 25 miscut cards in one box. That seems like some worker was just having a bad day.

Yeah, apparently their quality control is a bit lacking with the Heritage cards. The damanged cards made up some ridiculous % of the box, something like 1/6 or 1/7th of the cards were miscut. They were pretty bad, too...like 10/90 instead of 50/50.

At least they replaced them. There were no GREAT cards that were damnaged, so I'd have preferred a couple packs instead of one-for-one replacment, but I did use some of the replacement cards in trades and for TTM requests, so it was worth my postage cost, at least.

I got a thinner pack of 2007 Bowman Draft Picks & Prospects, hoping for something interesting. I got only 5 cards out of 7. They completely jipped me of the two green rookie cards!! But I did get chrome Upton and Towles.

So, could I send in any DP & P wrapper I have telling them of my shortage, or does it have to be the exact one? Secondly, what Topps' address would I send it to? There are several options.

When I sent mine I just sent mine I just sent a random empty pack. I always open my packs in the car and just put wrappers in the bag I get them in. So I wasn't sure which was the right one. I also sent my pack and letter to the headquarters address. I sent it Monday so I hope to hear something back next week.

I found an address on the back of the DP & P wrapper for product inquiries:

                            The Topps Company, Inc.
                            ATTN: Consumer Relations
                            401 York Avenue
                            Duryea, PA 18642

Possibly an ignorant question, but would my request be more likely addressed if the letter was typed for neatness, or written for personal touch and to reduce odds of them thinking it's a scam?
