  • Bryce Harper's 2011 Bowman Chrome Prospects #BCP1 "Superfractor" rookie card

A seller is asking for $25,000 on eBay for this card. Why is this card considered to worth this much?

It might be the only 9.5 grade for that card. With that being said, there's no way, NO WAY, I'd pay that much for that card. If I spend $25K on my collection, it's going to be on a vintage card.

edit: Looks like it's a 1/1. Still, no way I'd pay that much.

Its not even a real auto. The $25K is the seller's asking price. I don't think Beckett even places a book value on the card since its a 1/1 so the seller is looking to cash in on a one of a kind card.

Since the Strasburg sold for $16,000 (and I think it was resold for $20,000), $25,000 seems like a pretty fair price. And, he's willing to go lower.

Why would people pay such ridiculous prices? Are they banking on the chance that Harper will be an all-time great? Do they really think this card will be worth $75,000 in 2033? I get why vintage cards are valuable. I don't get why this Harper card is worth so much?
