Breakfast with the Portland Sea Dogs 7-15-2012

This event is always the best. With the help of a friend (season ticket holder, event for those folks) we attend and are treated very, very well.

Got there early and had to pond on a few doors to get the gift shop to open to buy newly released team-sets…and off we went

Found a picnic table in the shade as the temps in Maine have been brutal. Thank God for a strong off shore sea breeze.

The players appear to a rousing standing ovation. And the graphin’ begins.

Every player was great, even the “one per” guys. The accommodated by signing everything I had. One of the lines I like to use when I hand a player of multiple items is to say “Thank you for being for professional about this” That always works to get them to sign a handful.

There were a few roster changes over night as Ryan Dent was shipped out and Ronaldo Bermudez was back with the team. Zolbrin Vitek was on the DL and Chris Carpenter was a “one game wonder” doing a rehab. Met Mike MacDonald, Maine born player and had a long conversation with him. Really nice young man who had played minor league ball now for a few years. Upcoming star Jackie Bradley is a wonderful guy, always very courteous and respectful. The crowd was the usually but the players always seem to congregate in tables making it hard to get to some of them. I planted myself right in the middle of those and I always wait for the kids to get their stuff done first.

Picnic in the Park…New Britain 8-18-2012

What a day at the park…got there early for the Picnic and there was already a bunch of people. They moved the event inside the concourse because of the wet grounds from last nights rains. Got there early and there was already a line…and there ended up being tons of people which made the lines very long very slow. I was able to get the entire team, with the exceptions of some no shows.

Tons of things signed and after that event the New Britain Rock Cats were wonderful…got almost everyone.
