  • How do you capture your screenshots?

If someone who does this would be so kind to walk a newbie through the process.

    On a PC:

    1. Hit the "Print Screen" button (usually up in the top right, but may be in different spots on different keyboards).

    2. Open "Paint" (Start/Accessories)

    3. Paste your image in.

    4. Save the image.

    5. Paint has very limited ability to crop/edit, but if you want only part of the image you can select the part you want, copy it, open a new image in paint, and paste it in. Also, under "Image/Attributes" you can adjust the size of the image.

    On a Mac:

    1. Hold down Command/Shift/3.

    2. Screenshot appears on your desktop.

I use Picasa for screen caps. As long as Picasa is running, it takes over the standard Windows print screen function. It dumps the file directly into a screen capture folder where you can then go apply whatever editing capabilities Picasa offers.

Just hitting Print Screen grabs the entire screen.

Ctrl Print Screen grabs only the active window.

Without Picasa running, Alt Print Screen grabs only the active Window, and the other combinations get the whole desktop. I found that if I have multiple monitors set up, a regular print screen grabs both screens. In Picasa, it only grabs the primary screen.

I use a program called snagit....easy to use and if you only want part of the screen you can do that with no editing.
