  • My vintage mets collection

Over the past few years I have been collecting quite a few pieces of mets memorbilia. Nothing has been too expensive as of yet (I am only 24 lol), but it's still a collection i've grown to be quite proud of.

--One yearbook from EVERY year from 1962-2007.
--Atleast one program from every year.....except 1963, 1967, and 1978 (will get one from those years eventually)
    --numerous books and magazines
--a 1962 Sports Illustrated with Casey Stengal on the cover
--the program from the first game at shea, april 17, 1964
--the program from Tom Seaver's return to shea as a Red, August 1977
--a popcorn holder from the polo grounds with Mr. Met on it
--2 drinking glasses from the first year of shea and the world's fair
--a booklet previewing shea stadium from late 1963
    --a 1965 mets coloring book
--6 subway posters from 1980 with 6 different players on them with the ad slogan "The Magic Is Back"
--a 1969 daily news player portrait set
--numerous pins from the 60's till now
--autographs of George "the stork" Theodore, Buddy Harrelson, Ed Charles, Ed Kranepool, Rafeal Santana, Kevin McReynolds, John Stearns, and John Olerud
    --a Shea Medallion from the 1976 Bi-Centenial
--a dvd collection of mostly regular season games (with most post season games from 1986-2006) from about 1983-now, that is about 200 games.
--many more items, too many to list here, but these are the highlights and main pieces.

I started this probably about 5 years ago, I have always been a mets historian and once I got into the collecting aspect of it, it's pretty addicting.
"all the mets road wins against the dodgers this year have occured at Dodger Stadium"---Ralph Kiner

"Blind people came to the park just to listen to him pitch"---Reggie Jackson, talking about Tom Seaver

Now that's something you almost never see - a sad Mr. Met. The only other time I've seen a sad Mr. Met is on the rain checks - he's holding an umbrella and crying because there's not going to be a game.
Please help. I was diagnosed with Stage 4 cancer last summer, and now I'm in a position where I need financial assistance. For the full story, please check out my GoFundMe campaign at https://gofund.me/3874ea2d. Thank you.

before my collection was destroyed by a fire, i had a set of seven mr met decals as well as original gold based bobble heads. it makes me sick to think of what happened. many items are irreplaceable and i've been rebuilding my collection, limited to pins only, over the past 10 years

Great collection, but why is Mr. Met crying for Casey's birthday?

Too much to mention, but here are some highlights:

1962, 1969 WS, and 1973 WS Mets pennants
Shea Stadium seat auto'd by the entire living '69 Mets (Nolan Ryan excluded)
              Glove signed by Ron Swoboda
Hat signed by Ray Knight inscribed, "'86 World Series MVP"
              Daily newspaper from Mets WS
              1969 WS yearbook
              1969 WS record album

Lots of other neat stuff too, but the above pieces of my collection are what first came to mind.
"The Mets have shown me more ways to lose than I even knew existed." - Casey Stengel

The daily news player portraits are really fun. I ran into them for the first time at a card show a few months ago, but I only purchased the one of Tommie Agee.
