              Harry Brecheen

Second pitcher Harry Brecheen posted a 2.49 and led the League with 5 shutouts. A graceful cat-like fielder he became the first lefty to win 3 games in a World Series posting a 0.85 record ERA that lasted 3 decades. Won games 2 and 6 both against Mickey Harris. Entered Game 7 in the eighth in relief of Murry Dickson after retiring Moses and Pesky, DiMaggio hit a 2 inherited run scoring double. In the 9th after blowing the save Brecheen closed out the Series and gained the win after Slaughter had untied the score in the bottom of the 8th by scoring the go ahead run.
