Babe Hangs Out In The Great White North
87 Years Ago Today - Montreal, Canada - October 15, 1926
The inscriptions read, "For H.L. Douglas with compliments of Vilhjalmur Stefansson, 10/15/26" and "To Guy Tombs, From "Babe" Ruth". Guy Tombs (center photo) was a prominent businessman from Montreal (where the photo was most likely taken). Perhaps more interesting is Vilhjalmur Stefansson (left photo), who was a very well known Canadian Arctic explorer and ethnologist.

Babe At Sea - RMS Empress of Japan
79 Years Ago Today - October 27, 1934
Babe Ruth & Commander L.D. Douglas, R.N.R.
Credit Line (ACME): "Babe Ruth, playing manager of the American League All-Stars, now on their way to Honolulu and Japan for an exhibition tour, is seen here with Commander L.D. Douglas, R.N.R., on the bridge of the Canadian Pacific Liner, Empress of Japan, in which The Bambino, Connie Mack, Jimmie Foxx, Lou Gehrig, Lefty Gomez, Moe Berg, Charlie Gehringer and others sailed from Vancouver, B.C. Today, Colonel Jake Ruppert, owner of the Yankees confirmed rumors that The Babe will step into Connie Mack's shoes to manage the Philadelphia Athletics." Really interesting bit about Col. Ruppert 'confirming rumors' about The Babe taking over the A's. Of course, he never did take over the A's and was sent to the Braves in 1935. Ruppert just couldn't wait to be rid of The Babe.
