The Babe gets married to Claire Hodgson - April 17, 1929. Claire's Mother is standing next to her. (Claire looks like a flapper.)Last edited by Bill Burgess; 05-21-2008, 04:10 PM.

Here's a beautiful promo picture of The Babe with Gary Cooper from RKO Radio Pictures (1942) for the classic movie, "The Pride Of The Yankees".

The Babe shaking hands with Samuel Goldwyn after signing on to be in "The Pride Of The Yankees". Not suprisingly, he ended up playing Babe Ruth. He was perfect for the role.

A letter sent to a young boy, 1935. Some how he always found the time for his fans, the public. One of his qualities that endeared him to the public. He knew of no class distinction. President, king, queen in his eyes the same as a common person. Scheduled to meet some royalty on one occasion, may have been a queen from Rumania not sure. He showed up over an hour late, muddied shoes, grass stained pants. On his way to meet her he stopped to play some baseball with some young boys playing in a park.

Classic AP picture of The Babe, his wife and a bunch of fish he caught in Maryland - June 15, 1929. I love how he was "recuperating from his recent illness". Um, would that be gluttony?!? Haha....gotta love The Babe!

Today is the 73rd Anniversary of The Babe's last day of greatness (playing) in baseball. On May 25, 1935 he belted 3 home runs against Pittsburgh at the old Forbes Field. They would be his last. This picture is of The Babe's second of the day, the 713th of his career.

1930-------------------------Shibe in Philadelphia
1926 and 1928 World Series---Sportmans in St. Louis

Still holds the record 72 multiple home run games, wonder if not for all those walks we could be looking at 8 or 10 three homer games.
The three homer game in 1930. His last at bat 9th inning a shot at a four homer game. They chose to walk him so he turned around and batted right handed, so they pitch to him. After taking two strikes, turned around to the left side and struck out.

"Babe and Ty on the cover of the Mid-Week Pictorial from the NY Times - April 21, 1927"
What are the odds of finding a picture taken within milliseconds of the one on that cover? Pretty low I'd say. Hahaha...it figures that I would dig one up. Here it is...

Here's a fantastic action shot of The Babe at Fenway Park in 1927. I'm guessing he just fouled one off. Hope everyone has had a great holiday weekend...Cheers! ~B
