              • Walter Johnson seems in a condition to whiff the Babe but Billy Evans seems in a mind to pull a few fast ones himself.

Take a look, others watching, the camera man shooting, an out of shape retired ballplayer, still the center of attention.
Unknown to most, the Dodger organization had a clause inserted in Babe's contract that required him to take batting practice with the team, they milked this guy right to the very end.
A coach.................required to take batting practice, the Dodgers probably figured a couple or few more hundred would attend the game just to see Babe take some cuts.
In that season the 43 year old coach won a long distance hitting contest at Sportsmans Park, beating out some of the National league heaviest hitters, Joe Medwick, Dolph Camilli and Johnny Mize, all active and in their prime years.

                      Great work BSmile

                      • I would have to guess it is in the HOF or Babe Ruth Museum, but what happened to the crown that everyone has seen him wear in that video? Probably the obvious answer, but I dont remember seeing it when I last went to Cooperstown.
"I don't like to sound egotistical, but every time I stepped up to the plate with a bat in my hands, I couldn't help but feel sorry for the pitcher."
                        -Rogers Hornsby-

"People ask me what I do in winter when there's no baseball. I'll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring."
                        -Rogers Hornsby-

Just a note to all the active members of BBF, I consider all of you the smartest baseball people I have ever communicated with and love everyday I am on here. Thank you all!

Behind Babe Ruth sitting at the Polo grounds, is Detroit Tigers' President and Gen'l Managaer, Frank Navin.
