Would you like Armando Benitez Ken? The M's would be happy to trade him for either Nomar or Mueller.

      • I don't think Ken would go for that -- AB has a lousy record against a certain team from NYC.

But then again, they got Kim.

        • Well, Shiggy is a Free Agent, but sorry Ken, you can't have him. Arthur Rhodes can close game.

          • I'm not a Red Sox fan, but what if Jose Mesa was suddenly dealt to the Sox? That way, the final piece of your championship puzzle will be complete. BTW, Mesa pitched in a WS, too, just like Embree and Kim.

                • Interesting coincidences:

On October 2, 1978, the Boston Red Sox lost to the NY Yankees by a score of 5-4. The game ended when future HOF Carl Yastr... (Yaz) popped up the ball along the 3B line.

On October 2, 2003 (25 years later), the Boston Red Sox lost twice. First in the wee hours of the night, also by a score of 5-4, this time on a bunt along the 3B line.

Just over 13 hours later, they lose another game, this time by a score of 5-1. Now then, is the 5-4 score a coincidence? Is the big, grating moment along the 3B line a coincidence? Only "They" in the Yankee organization (aka, Evil Empire Headquarters) are privy to this info. Said info is held in a vault deep under the corner of 161 & River, where no BoSox fan dare tread.

Beware the 4th of October. That will be the most humiliating moment of them all!

Let's take a poll. Should we spit out Ken after having chewed him out, or should we continue feasting? Hmmmmmm, choices, choices, so difficult.

Anyway, *fangs* for the memories. Don't forget, the end is near. Beware Saturday's game at Fenway.

                      • On this, the 25th anniversary of a cherished event, the Boston Red Sox have lost twice (once from a game started on Wednesday), while the NY Yankees have won once.

Word to the wise: our closer can close.

They thought I was joking before when I said that the 25th anniversary was a bad omen. I'd also called before that Boston would lose on 10/2/03 and the Yanks would win. History must be dictating the future in Yankeeland!

Anyway, I still say that Ken should beware of the 4th of October, just like Caesar should've on the Ides of March!

Sure nuff, buddy! Now we can reveal our secret weapon:

                                Com-Pettitte-or

Andy Pettitte fanned 10 in Game 2, a career playoff high.

What pressure? Andy Pettitte remained cool before collecting a clutch 4-1 win Thursday over the Twins in a performance both he and the Yankees needed badly, Buster Olney writes.
