  • Boston and Chicago fans are not cursed, only the baseball teams are... I'm sick of hearing about those fans suffering. Cleveland fans, now they are true sufferers. Yes we have had the close calls (recently '97 and '95) and some good teams, but the indians haven't won since 1948, and that is a lifetime for me, my parents and probably most of the people that wine about the cubs, white sox and red sox today. But what gets me the most is that Chicago has had the Bulls and the Bears to celebrate championships, and Boston has won it all with the Patriots and the Celtics over the last couple decades. My point is no major Cleveland professional sport team has won since the Browns in 1965 (before the game was even called the super bowl- which they've never been to). So we got the Tribe that hasn't won in 55 years, the Browns haven't won for 38 years and the Cavaliers have been around since 1970 and never won, thats another 33 years of championship-less sports. In all we have "suffered" through 126 seasons without a championship. And like I said all of the teams have gotten so close over the years. The Cavs great teams in the late 80's and early 90's were beaten in the playoffs several times by Jordan and the Bulls, you all remember the shot. The Browns were beaten in 87, 88, and 90 by Elway's Broncos, ("The Drive, "The Fumble"- 2x on late 4th quarter plays) and the Indians were 2 outs away in 1997 with the most dominant closer of the mid90's on the hill against the Florida Marlins, and in 1995 they took the dominant Braves to 6 games, but Justice's homerun ended that attempt. Man, I'm starting to get pissed off talking about all these, so i'm going to leave it at that. Cleveland fans, true sufferers.

      • DaytonDogg, I think that Seattle is about the only city that has 3 teams, but has never won a single championship. Not the Mariners (who've never won a pennant), the Seahawks or the SuperSonics.

        • Chicago has 5 major sports teams and all of them are pretty pathetic.

The Bulls 6 NBA Titles: 1991,1992,1993,1996,1997,1998
          The Bears 1 Super Bowl:
          1985
That is about all this city can brag about.
The Blackhawks haven't won a stanley cub since 1961, which is the longest streak in the NHL
The Cubs haven't won a WS since 1908 which is the longest streak in MLB
The Sox haven't won a WS since 1917 which is the second longest streak in MLB.
So you have a basketball team who was once dominate but hasn't made the playoffs since. A ver y mediocre NFL franchise with 1 Super Bowl. The two baseball teams have the longest draugthts out of all 30 teams and the hockey team has the longest draught out of any team in the NHL.
Put it this way all of the Chicago teams are either bad or cursed.
Boston has the Celtics who have won the most NBA title out of any team and they have the Pats who recently won the Super Bowl. Boston fans should have nothing to complain about if you compare them to Chicago.

                • I thought I'd bring this one back from the dead, since it seems to be the unofficial smack-talk thread.

                  So...

BoSox trade for Schilling. Yankees trade for Vasquez.

Yankees sign Sheffield. BoSox trade for A-Rod?

                  Smack away.

Weak-hitting Bucky "Bleepin'" Dent smacks one over the LF Green Monster in 1978. Twenty-five Octobers later, as predicted, Boston's world comes crumbling down as weak-hitting Aaron "Bleepin'" Boone smacks one into the LF seats at Yankee Stadium, and New Englanders flee to the exits, to the cheering crowd, as Frankie sings it!

You must mean today's classic New York marque game today between those 2
red hot teams from New York, Jets & Bills!
But I'll miss that BIG game because I'll be watching the team with the 8
                            game winning streak,
                            The (11-2) New England Patriots.
BTW, trying to clinch the AFC East title with a win . . .

Broad & Pattison . Armt/Navy yesterday. Flyers/Bruins(They DO play in Boston). Soon Bowa & co. in the new joint.
