Can anyone tell me the closest place to
Yankee Stadium where someone from out-of-town could buy a broom* Sunday around 4PM? -

      • Guys, this thread is getting to be fun again.

Count me in on the race to see which team has the most total days spent on the DL at the end of the season.

KenFourgere, why don't you make a pool out of it?

I'm hoping the Yankees win this one....so the Red Sox can win the AL and face the Cubs in the WS.
Nothin' like fun at the ol' ballpark!

        • OK, leaving for the stadium now... all I can say is...

          LET'S GO YANKEES!

          • That's what I love most about this red sox dominance thus far. yankee fans may want to point at the calendar or say they're just in a slump, both of which are true, but the Red Sox are winning with a wounded team. Nomar, Nixon and Kim back on the team and I think we're looking at more of a 15-2 record. We're in our own slump, but ging 5-1 agains the yankees. Once we're all back and healthy, look out!

0 for 19.... 0 for 19! with runners in scoring possition and we STILL won!

Actually, I thought after the second inning I'd see the headlines the next day "Kevin Brown no-hits Red Sox, Loses 2-0" or "Red Sox. yankees no hit each other. Sox win 2-0".

Just the Yanks being slow starters and Bahston being quick out of the gate, as usual. Had Bernie gotten a single with bases loaded, 1 out, instead of a GIDP, we wouldn't be posting this.

15-2? Were they that last season with them healthy in their career years?

I wouldn't want Kim back too soon if I were you. Remember, he's one of the few visitors who earns the big applause from Yankee fans. Me thinks he'll earn it once again.

Now Alex has finally starting hitting, must've swiped Jeter's bat, and around May, we should finally get on track. Hey, it's a long marathon, not a 10k race.

              btw, this ain't yer year!

The miserable '80s won't return anytime soon.

I can deal with not winning it all. Terrible thought, wasted year, but I'll deal, just as I have since 2001. However, losing to Boston, especially in October, is totally unacceptable.

I'm hearing of a lackadaisical attitude from my guys in today's game, from another board. Losing and trying your best I can deal with. Ho-hum things rile me bitterly! Then I'm also hearing of guys still swinging at 1st pitches. Just yesterday, I think it was Matsui who grounded out on a 3-0 pitch. Why would someone swing at a 3-0 pitch w/ducks on the pond?

They should bring back the Ghost of Billy Martin and take guys out for sloppy play. No exceptions, fine then, bench them, and since Bernie's (who's not fit to do >100 gms/yr) not hitting a lick, he should be benched in favor of Bubba Jackson.

I can deal with a slow start, but a very ugly April isn't exactly my idea of Yankee baseball! Now why did I bother taping this when there are other games available?

                      And 26-0 since 1918.

We'll see what happens once my namesake starts teaching the guys how to hit with RISP. Right now, it's a very bad set of games.

After Monday's rest, we'll see how well we can fare against Oakland's triple thread on the hill. Hopefully, none of them change their first names to Pedro. Or Curt, for that matter.

Chances to score, to win, but none taken. Yeah, great day!

Yeah, that's what I'd meant. I suppose that Sam Malone must be getting a big parade down Federal St right about now, and George Wendt's "Norm" is leading the whole thing. I think they close the bars early down there, or the suds would be flowing like nobody's business!

George needs to yell out a big storm about now, blow some hot air, point fingers, tell Cap'n Intangibles he couldn't hit water out of a bucket the past few days. He and Posada used to be the secret weapons against Pedro in years past, and Enrique Wilson was just the unexpected guy who'd make it happen. Pedro's put something extra on top.

Should have the B team play the ChiSox for a half game or two, letting Jeter and Bernie sit. I'd much rather sacrifice one game than a whole string of 'em.

I'll check the tape, but this can't go on into May. George doesn't mind opening up the checkbook, but he notoriously demands a strong return on his investment. C'mon, George, yell one out for the good of the team, making the back pages and all!

Do you really want to see the White Sox again?

Anyway,it's just a matter of time before Mt. Steinbrenner erupts.
(I didn't trade for A-rod so we can lose 6 of 7 to freaking Boston!!!!)

Alex got 2 hits today, so he's off the hook. Ruben Sierra's been the go-to PH guy, but he gets a double today after having stranded a few guys in prior games, then gets stranded today himself.

Nothing against the White Sox, but IMO, there's only one team I hate losing to and that's Bahston. You guys are a good team, competitive and all, but if anyone needs a break, it should be in the series directly preceding the Red Sox series, and ChiSox happened to be it.

We've got like 2 dozen CF in Bernie, Lofton (DL), Bubba Jackson (bench), then Matsui's in LF. Bernie should go to LF pronto, and only do a few innings if he's not hitting anything. He should be PH for if he can't at least advance a runner or groundout to get a guy home. This GIDP w/only 1 out kills me!

I dunno, I'm not a happy camper today, so I'll consider taking it out on the first sign of any Red Sox fans! (j/k, in case anyone's unable to read smilies)
