Don't be silly. Since I've already snuck into Oakland's clubhouse and replaced their deadwood with some of Barry's maple bats, I can see an end to their 8-game losing streak about now.

Besides, Tino's multi-HR games seem about good enough fer moi!

Now then, wouldn't it be an *INTAH-RES-TINK* (that's "interesting" in Yankeespeak) thing if a certain team were to come from all the way back to be in 1st or 2nd place shortly?

*Watches as the Beantowners shudder at the thought of:

When will they ever learn? They've sold their heart & soul to the guy way down there, where snowballs usually fear to tread. They'll never win again, they'll forever be teased like nobody's business once again. Just when they got a rare bite of life, it'll be swiped back away from them again.

Never again will they say "This is our year", since never again, will it be.

        • Winning streak stretches to 9. It is now obvious that George has totally
moved his attention from the 4 legged stable to the 2 legged one.

I heard today that Paul LoDuca owns 2 racehorses (used to own 11) and they are usually ridden by the jockey who rode Giacoma to win the Kentucky Derby, and as such he (LoDuca) had an undisclosed wager at the juicy odds of 50-1. Lucky he is not a Yankee....George wud not have been happy!! :grouchy

Sorry - I know this has nothing to do with this thread, but I threw it in anyway!!

No matter how good you are, you're going to lose one-third of your games. No matter how bad you are you're going to win one-third of your games. It's the other third that makes the difference. ~Tommy Lasorda

          • Sold *our* souls?

Not the Team, not management, nor Sox fans have sold their souls. It was confirmed a long time ago that Steingrabber did. That is why the Sox won, we all have pure souls, whereas the Evil Empire leader has no soul, and the rest of you followed him over to the Dark Side.

Now, you heathens, join the only true religion. Of course, a suitable penance must be done. Burning a pinstripe uniform is the first step of the penance.

You will notice I am not yelling. As a little person, I learned that talking very softly focuses attention, and if that doesn't work, hit ****, because no authority will believe lil me is dangerous. Heh.

I don't see any objects in the mirror; no souls, you see. We do know where all of you are, though, your sobbing is louder than Moaning Myrtle.

            • Red Sox fans will no longer be allowed to post here. They shall be banished to the dungeon where they shall be seen but not heard. No keyboards (or anything Varitek-related) will be offered them. Only day-old buttered bread and slightly sweetened water (including the required NYC alligator) will be accorded them.

Now then, how long before Beantown goes on a downward spiral? Just when Oakland lost all hope by losing to a respectable team, they've decided that their hitting (and pitching) isn't so bad by beating up on a floundering team. I guess that the A's aren't such a bad team after all. They just needed to pick the right opponents.

LET'S GO OAKLAND! (clap, clap, clap-clap-clap)

                • The only purpose of Red Sox fans' existence is for the sheer amusement of Yankee fans!

                  • You'll never lock me up. I've seen the darkest dark a baseball fan can see, and it doesn't scare me any more. I carry the pure golden light of October 20th and October 27th inside me, and no unmeltable lock or grimy trunk will ever keep it from shining.

My strength is as the strength of ten, because my heart (and team loyalty) is pure. (You must realize that if we haven't been broken yet, we'll never break!)

Besides... though you may point out that the pinstripers have won a few more rings than My Boys, the Boston rings are far far far more precious because of their rarity. Next to The ruby and sapphire rings My Boys now sport, those gumball-machine things the pinstripers wear are no more rare than a handful of raisins. Neener neener neener.

Yankee fandom a true religion? Cripes... as I suppose was the version of catholicism practiced by the Medici and Borgia popes!

                    • The plane turned around...

We started singing "Sweet Caroline", the passengers heard, and joined us. After the hundreth rendition, the lone Yfan, the pilot, started running through the plane screaming. Subdued by the passengers, while the co-pilot returned us to Manchester, NH.
Our prayers (of the only true religion) were answered. The pilot has converted. She promises to raise her children as Red Sox fans.

HA! Oakland falls. With three errors. Payton to Varitek. Out! That's gonna be in the highlights.

Not very good against quality pitching. Of course, if they played some AAA team, they may just ransack the place.

Gee, I wonder where we could find such a team?
