    • Well I'm always up for a friendly wager.

And once again I must give thanks to our dear friends in the AL East; thank you Toronto and Tampa Bay. I guess Chewbacca didn't help this time.

      • Oh please... If Ortiz gets the bunt down, you got bases loaded with Manny at the plate. Ortiz hits a home run, you still got a two-run deficit.

Sox needed base runners, not homers. Ortiz saw an opportunity with the shift to get on base for Manny Ramirez, who's been pretty hot of late. Things just didn't go our way.

Anyway, I don't think I can be a part of the betting this time. I don't think I'll get a chance to watch another game after tonight even. Won't be back for a while either. At least not much until everything settles down here.

Anyway, GO SOX! yankee fans, you better hope the Sox don't take your team this weekend. It means more than this one season. It will solidify the yankee choke era. A sort of anti-dynasty, if you will. Here's hopin'.

        • I saw that Ortiz bunt attempt on ESPN, as well as Ortiz' sad and downward expression after the look on his face. I'm not sure it ranks up there with Grady "Bubba Grump" Little's decision to leave one certain pitcher in there, but I remember equal teeth grinding sometime that Nomah had bunted against the Yanks, I think it was. I can't remember the scenario, but Nomah bunting?

Had it been anyone other than Ortiz or Manny, I wouldn't have been surprised. Heck, even seeing a catcher like Tek doing that, I wouldn't have been surprised. But a bona fide MVP candidate? *BLASPHEMY*! Well, not *QUITE* as bona fide as a certain Yankee who's also got a great glove and hit #47 last night--the most of any righty since Joltin' Joe DiMaggio-- but that's OK.

Anyway ... where are all the Beantowners? It's a life or death scenario played at *YOUR HOUSE* this weekend. If the Yanks manage to win tonight, the Sawx lose, the "Y fans" will only need 1 win to get the division, due to a face-to-face season win (10 of 19 games) meaning a tie over 162 games gets us the divisional win.

Now then, if Beantown loses tonight, the Yanks win, y'all would have to sweep to get the division. If Yanks were to win under that scenario, everything else would be gravy.

Now don't anyone here go running out anywhere. Put your sigs and avs on the line, since you folks could just as easily win. Believe in your team, as you had the division almost wrapped up just a few days ago. Of course, if the Yanks win the division, Cleveland wins the WC, I guess someone will be out. Oh my gosh-kies. Tsk, tsk, tsk.

Are there *ANY* Red Sox fans here willing to bet there sigs and avs? C'mon, a few would be nice. This will be the end-all and be-all for the 2005 season. *COME AND GET IT!*

Yeah, but who are you betting against?

If YR, that's up to you two. So far, not a single Beantowner has accepted, despite this being the last series of the regular season and being played at *YOUR HOUSE*.

My terms are very simple: 2 weeks standard; 4 weeks if a sweep. If it comes down to Monday (which I hope it doesn't, since it would require the GOOD GUYS to *LOSE* 2 of 3), my bet would include another week for an additional "side bet" that Bubba Crosby, would hit a decisive HR into Yankee Stadium's LF.

              1978--#20 Bucky "F" Dent
              2003--#19 Aaron "F" Boone
              2005--#18 Bubba "F" Crosby

Ortiz isn't paid to bunt, nor is that his strength. I think it's sacrilegious when he does. How about Ortiz hits a homerun, Manny hits a homerun, Varitek hits a homerun....

What are the terms? 1 week, 2 for a sweep?

If you're the only Beantowner here, you care to "represent" properly? You can always do a 2-for-1, *MEANING* that if you lose, you can wear our sigs and avs, one right after the other. If we lose (which you in your heart already know will never happen), we can both wear your sig and av. My terms are stated above.

Bunt, schmunt, let's see him turn a 5-4-3 DP or rifle a shot to 1B to keep Ichiro or any other speed demon from getting an infield single. This after the ball was hit hard down the 3B/LF line.

                        Hmm.
So I get to wear multiple avs and sigs if I lose?
Where's the upside for me? If I win, I've already got a Yankee fan wearing mine.
                        No, I think I'll pass.
                        Where's Ken, anyway?

If you were to lose, you'd wear YRs sig and av for the agreed-upon time period, then mine for the other agreed-upon time period.

If you won, we'd both wear your sig & av for the separately agreed-upon time periods (that's the "upside").

I haven't seen Ken around here for at least a month or so. I guess he's OK, but I wouldn't know for sure.

                              • Oooh...that's tough, yankees rule. Quite a blow-out today. Too bad I was the only Red Sox fan to bet (that I know of, anyway).

You may use the standard Red Sox avatar.
                                And here is your sig:

THE RED SOX ARE ACTUALLY CO-CHAMPS OF THE AL EAST!!!

                                Enjoy for a whole week!
