Yeah, Whinebrenner's at it again. Let him grab Juan Gone. He's also reportedly about to fire Rick Down as hitting coach. Let him do everything he wants.

Why? Because the more he micro-manages the team, the more damage he does to the clubhouse harmony that was so key to the recent run of the Yankees. No matter who came under the microscope, there was always a sense that the coaching/managing was stable enough to smooth things over.

That's gone now. And won't Juan-Gone love playing under those conditions.

Don't want him, don't like him, don't need him. I really don't think the Yanks are interested in Gonzalez this time. The Yankees need a lefty for the pen. Michael and Cashman should be able to persuade George to calm down and butt out.

The Yankees main offensive weakness occurs when Jorge Posada bats higher than sixth in the lineup.

Modesi has done little since the great start.

Ventura is a disaster area.

The only real long ball threat in the middle of the lineup is Giambi.

Jeter does not hit many HRs, and that is fine.
Bernie never was a HR hitter.

With Juan, the lineup becomes balanced and powerful.

Gonzalez
Matsui
Williams
Posada
Sierra
Ventura

Gonzalez, Matsui, Williams can be switched. It won't matter.

Posada's DP's and K's will kill fewer rallies.

Ventura still walks, so hitting ninth is like another leadoff hitter for Soriano and Jeter.

The lineup has balance (Right-Lefty).

And wait until Nick Johnson returns.

Remove Gonzalez and replace with Mondesi, and it is an entirely different look and there will be different offensive production.

Yeah, I was a little scared of august myself at first, until I did a little more looking around.

It is indeed a tough schedual, and anything can happen. However, I feel we can more than hold our own against the yankees and seattle.

As for oakland, take a quick peek at their record, especially their home and away records. 36-13 at home, 18-23 on the road. That's 49 played where they do best and only 41 where they have a losing record. The red sox have 41 home games remaining out of like 63.

I'm predicting at least .500 on the road in august, and .600 to .700 at home.
