You darest to call out my name after a staggering Yankee loss at the hands of those mere Beantowners? And especially by David Ortiz? Aack!

Anyway, I'll have to think of something good today. In the meanwhile, yesterday did not happen. Ken's computer is broken again (mere coincidence, of course), and I haven't bet with anyone.

As I'd said earlier, a sweep is the only way one team wins, so whoever's betting, it's a week regardless. If the Yanks win tonight, then everyone keeps their avs and sigs.

When we get back to Evil Empire HQ, then it's a 3-gamer, so a 3-game sweep would be for 2 weeks. This time, the Bad Guys will win. The good guys (who are still eatin' that red chowda) will be the loserboys, as always.

Ugly game last night. I hereby strike Monday, the 1st of May, 2006, AD from the History of Mankind. Or as Barney Rubble would say, "And Womankind, too".

One game out of 19. It's not like your season is over after having the best record over the course of the season like a certain hockey team I follow. That is what deserves a :grouchy, not one loss in May when there are still five months of baseball left.

Certain teams that we play have weird after-effects. When I'd followed the Knicks in the Patrick Ewing era, it was always Michael Jordan and the Bulls holding us back. We could beat the Pacers, Heat, Magic, Celtics (another bunch of Beantowners), Pistons, but between them and the Lakers, we as fans (at least the ones I knew) would always get bent out of shape had we lost. This in a sport without series, but individual games.

Once it was crazy, in that we'd finally beaten them, but spent so much time on Chicago, then lost many of our other games. Some of us wondered, "Why didn't we lost to the Bulls, then beat everyone else?" Sometimes I wonder the same thing vs the Red Sox. However, I'd prefer not to give them that sneaky feeling that they can defeat our boyz at will.

In our first meeting with the BoSox, we wanted to beat them. Between Oakland, Anaheim (you just *KNOW* they don't play in Los Angeles), Minnesota, we've lost series against teams that have made the playoffs in the last few years. Only Toronto amongst the re-energized playoff contenders have we beaten.

Oh well, I'm sure that after we send them packing by 12-2 tonight, I'll feel much better. A little slide in one's glide can be had by such a game. Would make us wonder, "How in the world did we lose last night?"

Anyway, I'm still in my "Crush, Kill, Destroy" mode. Let's see if the Yankees share my mood.

Not for one game! Wait 'til after the 2nd game, then we talk. Presuming, of course, that the game is played.

Now then, do we replay this game at Evil Empire HQ or down Yawkey Way? I remember the Mets & Yanks had a 2-stadium DH, but 206 miles didn't separate them.

Perhaps they'll just play it at one of the games at the corner of 161st St & River Av. They play there from May 5-11.

The game is going to be played as part of DH in August, at Fenway!

                      • The game will be made up in an August 18th double-header, with the makeup game at 1:05pm ET.

Tuesday's game has been tentatively rescheduled for Aug. 18 as part of a day-night doubleheader at Fenway Park. The Yankees and Red Sox are scheduled to play a four-game series that weekend, but that may now become a five-game set. An official decision on the schedule is expected later this week.

                          • Maybe it is a bit early, but are there any volunteers to make a bet for the upcoming Red Sox @ Yankees games, starting 5-9-2006?

I'm thinking of starting a thread proposing all the umpires be female.

This was the same team that in the 1999 ALCS, when he'd had some cancer operation, had welcomed him for his bravery in going through this and still showing up. Even as the opposing manager, I'd say that the fans had lots of class.

After that series, I believe there was some garbage thrown onto the field, but Torre never once badmouthed Fenway fans on that. He'd said good things about them, so I don't think that Torre's any kind of smack talker.

To be quite honest, I think that 4 years of great effort should make Damon highly popular, and even if he's left, I still don't get the "traitor" thing. Everyone's got a right to boo, and I'd have had very mixed feelings had Bernie gone to Boston in 1998, but I don't think that Torre unleashed any hostility in Boston's direction.

Anyway, let's get our priorities straight: we won, you lost, so that's all that matters. Now off to bed with no supper (or chowda), folks!
