When the Yankees got wind of the Sox trying to reacquire Mirabelli from S.D., they tried to do the same thing they did a number of years ago when they prevented Boston from acquiring Jose Canseco by grabbing him before Boston could. I remember Torre saying that he didn't need or want Canseco but he got stuck with him anyway.
Mirabelli probably would have retired rather than play in New York . . . Certainly understandable . . .

That's the way we generally do things. If for a different opponent, I'm not too sure. Optional, but mandatory.

Since the Yanks consider both Boston and Mets games to be "premium" (whatever that means re seat prices), then that should be standard when betting against fans of those teams here.

Ken and I have a bet going, so it'll be avs & sigs, both PG-rated, of course.
