I'm going to have to disargee with you here.
Last night you had a yankee team with 3 all star/MVP caliber players out of its regular line up due to injury.
Jeter, Sheffield and Matsui.

But yet you still had an other 3 All Star/MVP caliber guys to feild in Giambi, Damon and A-Rod. Not to mention Posada and Cano who are very good.

And this is just talking about your line up.
Can you name another team that can lose 2 guys like that and not be crippled?

I think you may be missing the point to which you've quoted. Just because you spend wildly doesn't guarantee you a WS championship. Exhibit A: 2001; Exhibit B: 2002; Exhibit C: 2003; Exhibit D: 2004; Exhibit E: 2005.

As to teams missing guys of that caliber, most teams won't have a lineup of guys many other teams would love to trade for. It's a very stacked lineup. However, now that we're seeing more youth on the team, as in Chien-Ming Wang, Robinson Cano, Melky Cabrera and Kevin Thompson, youth is finally getting a chance, rather than the usual trading away of those players for vets like Kevin Brown and other low moments in Yankee history.

The problem is that the Yanks spent, but they didn't mix the vets with the young guys willing to earn their place and make their teammates happy. I haven't seen many Yankees stealing HRs like Melky did last night, doing so with such great jubilance. I think that the Mets have a similar thing with Reyes, Wright and Milledge: youth + vets. Before, the Yanks were vets but little youth, as in guys under 25.

With this mix, I think that the Yanks have diversified themselves better.

You are right about that, but it still didn't bring us any championship the last five years. All star loaded line up or not.

I say it again: Spending money doesn't guarantee a championship. Both New York Baseball teams have proven that. Unfortunately Uncle George still thinks that money CAN buy a championship. Too bad.

Tonight's game between the New York Yankees and Boston Red Sox at Yankee Stadium has been postponed due to rain. No rescheduled date has been announced.

Fans holding paid tickets for tonight's postponed game may use them for the rescheduled game between the Yankees and Red Sox or exchange their paid tickets for any remaining 2006 regular-season game at Yankee Stadium subject to availability.

Tickets can be exchanged at Yankee Stadium Advance Ticket Windows only (open Monday through Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Sunday from 10:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., and until the 7th inning of any regularly scheduled home game).

Complimentary tickets cannot be exchanged.

Red Sox-Yankees washed out--Schilling, Wright to keep turns in rotation, meet Thursday

NEW YORK -- Wednesday night's game between the Red Sox and the Yankees was postponed by rain, but not the scheduled duel between right-handers Curt Schilling and Jaret Wright.

With the four-game series whittled to three by day-long showers that forced the postponement at 4:10 p.m. ET, Schilling and Wright will keep their date when the set concludes Thursday night at 7:05 p.m. ET at Yankee Stadium.

The postponement -- a makeup date was not immediately announced -- ensured the Yankees of remaining in the American League East lead when the Red Sox leave town. The Bombers hold a 1 1/2-game lead. Following Thursday night's game, the teams won't see each other again until Aug. 18 in Boston.

The Yanks I think are a better team than the Sox because they do everything right. They have alot of big name players but they also find these small utility players that do alot for their team. Also of course they have the best closer in the league and their pitching staff while not great can hold down the sizeable leads the offense gives them.

If the Red Sox can avert the sweep as I expect, then they'll still take the series loss. Nothing against Jared Wright or whoever, but the Yankees still have a couple more encounters with the Bronx Bombers two more times, and I think this year they won't meet in the ALCS for the second time in a row. But then again, the Yanks were literally saved from this rain, as now they're up for a series win, or a sweep.

What do the Sox say? "Home Runs! Home Runs! Behind Papi and M-Ram!" I'll see about that tonight.

The Sox have potential to win the WS this year, and when Steinbrenner said that he guaranteed a WS win for the Yanks, it doesn't look like it. Matsui gone, Sheff gone, now Jeter gone...the Sox just prove the Yankees are big spenders, and want them eliminated from the playoffs before October.

Oh look, a single by M-Ram was countered by his former teammate (Damon) with a foul pole home run. This will look interesting...
