This is all cool except the Jeter injury. I don't wish actual harm onto my rivals. No, Jeter will go along on a baseball/humanitarian visit to Ghana and while there decides to stay and operate a youth baseball league.

Oh, and Derrek Lee's injury isn't serious, but nagging -- a recurring blister or something.

Meanwhile, the Sox go injury-free all season.

    • No, Baltimore finishes third, and the Yankees finish 4th in a disappointing performance. Let's see what may happen:
      • Joe Torre is fired somewhere in midseason and Jeff Torborg returns from a coaching hiatus, coaching the Yankees.
      • Curt Schilling throws a perfect game against the Yankees at Yankee Stadium.
      • Gary Sheffield hits 35 home runs, making the Yankees angry.
      • Baltimore and Tampa Bay finish above .500 against the Yankees, because they lose to Erik Bedard in every game he pitches against them.
      • Yankee Stadium returns to early 1990s form, only 10,000-17,000 show up at a game.
      • Jason Giambi is released and signed with the Kansas City Royals, who finally not lose 100 games.

That could happen to the Yankees, but this isn't a serious post, as is most of the posts in this thread.

      • I think we might of solved our closer problem starting in 2008.

        He'd be a nice addition to Red Sox Nation . . .

I hope people here aren't serious

Here are some possible scenarios of Red Sox going 3+ place in AL East:

          1. JD Drew goes down on injury big time. (Possible, he has been big injury prone during his career)
          2. Closer problem severe for Red Sox (Pineiro lol)... STILL (having Pineiro as closer is a biggest gamble since putting Whiten on the lineup wanting him to drive in 12 runs in a game again)
          3.
Francona implants Torre's knowledges (How can he put Youkilis in 8th spot sometimes?)
          4. Schilling's decline shows;Matsuzaka fails to get used to MLB;Papelbon gets injured;Wake's knuckler goes flat (just the worst case-situation of RSN SP's)

Serious? Yes, but we thrive on ribbing each other at the same time . . .
            (My avatar being an example.)
Third place? Not with that starting staff . . .

It might be, it could be, but it just might not be and it just couldn't be. It's all in probability. If you guys have a pitching staff that will not get into third place, you guys at least would've won wild card spot last year.

The addition of Dice K (with high expectations) and Jonathan Papelbon to the starting 5, gives the rotation much needed depth and a completely different look compared to 2006.

                • When the Yankees head out west to play against the Rockies and Giants, anytime the Yankees are losing, the Red Sox fans in this thread should rib and poke fun at the Yankees. Then again, that's the thread's purpose.

I'll post: "Hey, what's the matter? Is Colorado too hard for you guys?" or... "Down in the bay, the Yankees are drowning because of Bochy's 'Giant' fleet." or "Zito stings the Yankees at AT&T Park because the Yanks are more concerned on payroll than ACTUALLY winning their 27th ring."

Starting on April 2nd, let the silliness ensue.

Except that our pitching staff from last year to this year has drastically changed.....

                      • With all the talk of the Yanks and Sox both finishing in 3rd and 4th, I guess the Blue Jays and Orioles are just going to have to step in and claim 1st and 2nd. Of course, it will be the Jays in 1st. But the Orioles can have second. Let me tell you why:

                        Red Sox
                        • Dice-K admits that the Gyroball was a result of having steroids injected into his fingers, and is suspended.
                        • Papelbon won't start unless he is the #1 starter. Schilling then fights him for the position, and they both break each others pitching hands.
                        • Tim Wakefield can't cope with the pressures of filling the #2, 3, 4 and 5 spots in the rotation. His arm can take it, because he throws the knuckler. But emotionally, he breaks down.
                        • Josh Beckett is left to lead a rotation full of minor leaguers. He fails.

                        Yankees
                        • Jorge Posada retires, because he admits that he has always wanted to grow a beard, but George would never let him.
                        • A-Rod has a long heart-to-heart with Jeter, and they both break down at how mean Yankee fans are.
                        • Jason Giambi demands a trade to Detroit to be closer to Gary.
                        • Steinbrenner fires Matsui and Igawa, because he thinks they are conspiring against him when they speak to each other in Japanese.
                        • Johnny Damon goes back to the Red Sox, for two reasons. He is envious of Coco Crisp, and he wants to grow back his beard, for spiritual reasons.
                        • Melky Cabrera tears both hamstrings trying to play all three OF positions at once.
                        • Robinson Cano cracks under the pressure of havingt to play every fielding position, including catcher and CF. He runs away from Yankee Stadium, and is last seen swimming home to the Dominican.
*Of course, I mean no harm in my predictions. All in good fun.

And that is why the Yanks and Sox will finish third and fourth respectively.

Here's something for Sox-the team with most payrolls that didn't qualify to playoffs.

How on earth does that hurt the Yankees? That could put them in first on it's own. Reasons why the Blue Jays will finish 3rd:
                            • Roy Halladay will break his pitching arm in an effort to throw the gyroball
                            • The Manager and Vernon Wells will get into a fisfight resulting in Wells missing the season and the team being thrown into complete chaos when the manager challenges the entire team to a fistfight
                            • B.J. Ryan will decide that he really did make a mistake in choosing the Blue Jays as his team to go to after the manager challenges everyone to a fistfight and demand a trade to the Yankees resulting in a B.J. Ryan for Brain Bruney and Miguel Cairo deal allowing the Yankees to bring back Bernie Williams as a 5th OF
                            • Bernie hits a game tying homer against the Blue Jays in the 9th allowing Rivera to pitch scoreless innings in the 8th, 9th, and 10th, that allows Ryan to come ina and pitch 3 more scoreless inning until Bernie hits a walk-off off of Brian Bruney in the 13th
                            • Shea Hillenbrand and Ted Lilly are traded back to the Blue Jays creating more clubouse turmoil

And sadly that's all I got. yours were better.

This is all meant as a joke of course
