Hey Yankee fans, how's Tor(r)e's job security going? I'm filling in possible candidates that were former Yankee catchers: Joe Girardi, Mike Stanley, Matt Nokes, and so on. Which one do you want?
Watch Girardi throw players against walls, make them shave their heads and then tell Steinbrenner to go F himself..real smart move if Steinbrenner replaces Torre with him.
sigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

We have a starting lineup, a decent bullpen, and a closer THAT WHEN HE'S NEEDED, is "lights out". He turns out the lights for us.

It's nice of you to offer, though.
Hey, just got back in from a long flight from Arlington, Texas. How'd your closer do? Did he save the day? BWA-HAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!

Anyway, no wonder it's so quiet in Beantown. Not a peep out of any of ya pipsqueaks!

I don't brag about Yankee ST numbers. Spring means nothing unless you're talking about good weather or spring break.

      • I bet that this new Yankee trainer, Gene Monahan, is paid by the Red Sox to ruin our pitching staff with his new warming up methods.

I demand a serious investigatoin to find out which kind of ties Monahan has with the Red Sox.

New trainer? Gene Monahan? He's been with the Yanks for about 30 years now. Haven't you seen him in the dugout? It's the strength trainer that's got this mess going. Cashman fired the regulars that had been there 8 or 9 years, and immediately, our pitchers are dropping like flies. Blame them ... and Cashman.

Now then, in important news, every single member of the AL Least lost yesterday except them DAMNED YANKEEZ!

              Let's keep it a secret.

I heard that Hughes felt/heard a pop on the mound last night in the 7th inning?

Is this him on the right?

                    Kerrigan as BULLPEN COACH???

Maybe if SOMEBODY there had one working brain cell, they'd use him as PITCHING COACH..the man is a genius. can't manage for crap but a GENIUS as a pitching coach...only wish sox had kept him when duquette got swept out.

I couldn't agree with you more.
I think he's one of the best pitching coaches we've had.
                        As bullpen coach, he's grossly underused . . .

                          Gutsy move. Tough decision.

Me thinks that was in response to one certain O's fan (bird-brained?) named Erik Bedard, who'd talked about how great his team was doing. Then I'd questioned the record being discussed so much.

Nice pulling quotes w/o posting what they were in reply to. h

Me thinks that was cronyism more than anything else. Ron Guidry had a great season in 1978 (started the "Bucky Dent HR game"), and he had his number retired around 2003. Setup man Armando Benitez, who must've spent about 2-3 weeks in the Bronx, never got to wear Guidry's #49, despite that being his number as a Mets closer before that.

Guidry was drafted by the Yanks and played his entire pro career there.

I figure that was a "fan favorite" move to see their big star rewarded, rather than putting in the more qualified person. To my knowledge, Guidry's most recent success was getting Kei Igawa to challenge hitters more. I'd heard something on the radio during a game that Japanese pitchers are taught to keep the ball away from the batters. Guidry taught him to come in closer to the batter.

Yeah, I remember when DD canned Jimy Williams around September of 2001, when all the injuries cropped up like wildfire. Jimy played the "lefty-right thing", meaning that good lefty players were benched when an opposing southpaw took the hill. I remembered they'd faced Al Leiter (then with the Mets) and Andy Pettitte that season. I can't remember what Kerrigan did, but the distraction of having a manager fired so late in the season led to tons of confusion.

I personally expected Guidry to be the bullpen coach, since it didn't make sense to myself to have the more qualified pitch coach in there. I'd personally prefer to win games, rather than satisfying the fans.

You hit the nail right on the head.

This attendant let the players park their cars too far from the Stadium. As a result they had to walk too much and that was the cause of all those strained hamstrings...
