        It's now been said.
Lose this game and it'll be Torre's last in New York . . .

You also forget to mention the Giants beat the Jets, basically the only way a NY football team could win this year without getting lucky is if they were playing another NY team.

All wishes granted, as was mine that Phil Hughes didn't fail us.

Ex-Beantowners Johnny Damon swatted a 3-run shot, and Trot Nixon turned a 1-run bases loaded single into a 3-run, 2-base error.

And it's a slow grounder to first ...

                            • It was nice hear some Yankees fans with some class & chanting Torre instead of booing him as I expected. Hopefully in your case NY, Steinbrenner was listening. The Cashman is the one who needs to go. Look at your pitching staff! It's a joke. Mussina & Clemens are nearing extinction & Pettite can't be far behind. You're probably going to lose the MVP & closer. The last thing you want to do is change managers b/c guess what then you're looking ahead to a rebuilding year!
Dustin Pedroia was asked what the Red Sox need to do to turn it around. They have lost six straight and 14 of 21.
“I don’t know. I’m not a magic person. I just play second base,” he said.

"I believe in the Church of Baseball. I tried all the major religions and most of the minor ones. I've worshipped Buddha, Allah, Brahma, Vishnu, Siva, trees, mushrooms and Isadora Duncan. I know things. For instance, there are 108 beads in a Catholic rosary and there are 108 stitches in a baseball. When I learned that, I gave Jesus a chance." ~Ron Shelton, from Bull Durham
