Saturday I'm at the Rays minor league camp watching the Rays AAA/AA teams play the Yankees AAA/AA squads and this guy in his 60s comes up next to me. has the Yankees top hat logo on his inner right forearm, a MICK 7 inking on his upper left arm and the70s/80 football GIANTS logo on his calf. He sees the Patriots tat I have on my arm and all of a sudden starts cussing me out, saying us Boston fans think we know it all...that we're all gay, living in a gay city, in a gay state (gee..where are Fire Island and Greenwich Village located?). Said teh pats were cheaters and Belichick probably taught the Red Sox how to cheat too. He kept calling me a two-word obscenity. I responded that he didn't look like my father-in-lawn and after a few more FA's directed at me, I told him to stop describing Isiah Thomas. He stormed away, wishing me AIDS.

I give the Yankee coaches there some credit. One of them went to security and told them about this jerk. He had already left; I saw him leave the Naimoli Complex. Coach apologized to me. I told him no need to...the guy wasn't part of the Yankee organization.

So they parole the residents of The Bronx Zoo or what?
Every team has crazed fans. Boston has an endless supply of them (such as MIT flunky CB), if you've ever been to Yankee Stadium when your boys play here.

We've got the Village, but Fire Island is near Long Island, I think. Either case, I don't hang out there. Isn't there a Southie section of Boston?

Me, I don't like the sexual orientation innuendo that some baseball fans insist upon labelling others with. I've heard some great jokes about that, but I prefer keeping it clean.

This guy had to be a whack-job and odds are I'll see him again next time the Yankees go to the Naimoli complex.

That's the good thing about us Sawx/Yankee fans here. Sure we disagree, but we sure as hell don't say crap to each other like what that guy did to me.
My rules are I can mess with someone I know well (such as the Mets fans I play pool with), but never say anything to a complete stranger that will get you punched out in a bar. Once you add sports rivalries to this, then you're asking for some serious trouble (and a mighty big fight outside if one mouths off too much).

If someone does that here, they're history is all I'll say. We encourage playful banter, but never serious and highly personal smack talk.

              • Yes, good point Mattingly, i hate the yankees but i only joke around and smack talk with my Yankee-fan friends. it's all good as long as you're just having fun. People like the one SDL met are those who take it too far and resort to name-calling and threats. I like having heated debates as much as the next guy but c'mon just keep it clean

We have a Southie but it's a blue collar hard core irish neighborhood and nothing like those neighborhoods mentioned...

But as an FYI the Boston neighborhood that is supposedly like Fire Island and the Village is Fenway's namesake(or so I'm told)!!!!!!(insert joke here)

You mean South Boston. Certainly not a gay-friendly part of Boston. Goven this guy's attitude, if he was a Bostonian, he'd fit in well. You're thinking of Bay Village.

Hopefully the secirity guards will keep a eye on this guy next week when the Yankee teams return to Naimoli.

Whats funny, was that I was there to get some stuff signed by some Yankee personnel (I know, Matt.. big shock? )

Well, let's see now. The gay-friend areas of NYC are:

                      Chelsea (West teens and 20s of Manhattan from around above 14th St to below Madison Square Garden);

                      West Village (below 14th St to somewhere around Houston St I guess);

East Village (crosstown from this obviously)

Christopher St in the W Village and St Marks Place (aka E 8th St) in the E Village come to mind as the most famous gay-friendly streets in Manhattan, but lots more in brownstone Brooklyn.

Sooooooooooooooo, you were there to get something signed by Yankee personnel. I think there was a Yankee player in the news who has a nice little gift signature for ya!

Next time, don't set yourself up so perfectly. You toss 'em and I'll hit 'em outta the park. You're in the on deck circle!

OK, who's dear Momma is this? It's a nice pic, so who's Momma is this?

                      • Now for some unadulterated smacky poo (and yes, this part is indeed personal)!

                        From the Chowdahead Fanboy Herald:

Trot has answer for ‘Yankee fans’
Trot Nixon had a couple of answers for a small band of hecklers yesterday in Tucson, Ariz. - a two-run homer and a two-run double.

“I guess they were Yankee fans,” the former Red Sox [team stats] outfielder said after he helped Arizona beat San Diego 8-4. “If you want to get me right, bring in some Yankee fans.”

Nixon, batting .156 for the spring entering the game, signed a minor league contract with Arizona and probably will make the Opening Day roster, mostly because Chad Tracy still is recovering from knee surgery.
How in the world does someone hitting .156, who hasn't played for Beantown since 2006, is two teams removed from Beantown, manage to think that someone is booing him because they're a Yankee fan? Must be a home-grown mentality ingrained down there.

Is it true that Josh Beckett was playing hooky on Monday?

I guess he was putting back a few frosty cold ones with his mates.

SDL, Ken and JerseySoxFan went in their girlfriends' or wives' outfits while CB was gone:

Little Johnny, Red Sawx fantasizer at the end of Sept 2008:

Another Beantown player moonlighting on the side:

                        Future MIT dropouts:

Since CB doesn't drink, one of y'all will have to own up to it:

The truth shall set you free:

                        • Matt, Matt, what am I gonna do with you?

You know that I was thrown out off a bar in Southie-the other toss was the Rat-as the only female here right right now, I object to anything gay in a sports thread; the amount I've gay bashing I've heard at sports venues, or anything related to sports, is sickening. (Not here, never here.)

Always by men, to men. Except for that Laura Ingram, apparently a football player retired, cried, and she called him a woman. Ingram, is not a woman-leftover from Dark Shadows. No soul, just hate.

I had to call up tv stations that actually showed ARod with a pocketbook on his hand. I spoke personally with one anchor, asked if he wanted his daughters to grow up to be poor sports. Geez.

Nixon will always be a Red Sox, he bleeds red.

Yes, Beckett in a suit of magic seems appropriate-whip the ball past the batter, watch him do a Charlie Brown. Those other three pictures, they just look sexy. Especially the one on the left.

Little Johnnny...it was the lack of competition last year. You bring in Oki, Pap, you might as well bring in everybody but the catcher, let them hit the showers early--hmmmm-is there a rule about that? Gotta

CB is not a flunky-I didn't hit MIT or Harvard till after I was working, (employer pays!), but I never flunked a course there. Back then, math courses there, men, men, men. I did hand one guy at MIT a bar of soap-since we couldn't switch seats.

That Momma must be from Chi-wrong colors.

Youk-magazine at dentist-ESPN fantasy rankings, had him as 15, or 17, as 1B, overall rankings were unspeakable.

Shelly Duncan in jail yet? Methinks he's been aggressive since kindergarten.

Now, I gotta help Diggllahhh explain why Billy Crstal, or anybody except a ballplayer, belongs on the field at spring training. Matt, hit all the HRs you like, yours don't count. (Matt scurries off to look for a 3D image of ball out of screen.)

AWK! The two Japan games start at 6 AM? Can't be.

I should've remembered that a long time ago before she got so sassy with all those crazy replies. No V-Tek jerseys for her (neither now or any other time)!

Oh, and I've found your perfect Halloween costume. Since you folks believe in the Great Pumpkin, I wouldn't be surprised. Make sure you don't go near any French restaurants or any HS science classes.
