    • Don't get me wrong Ken, Pedro is much better than Franklin. But then again, Franklin is just a kid. He has shown A LOT of potential.

I'm wondering if Theo traded his soul away to get all those great finds. Oh well, let me refrain myself for once.

Seriously, this is Lowe's 2nd straight hittable game.I'm wondering what's going on, especially only scoring 2 runs off Cy Groom.

I figured one of the best offensive teams now, and a 4th place team, so what's going on?

            • They changed the accent on the word OFF-en-sive to of-FEN-sive.

What's going on? Good question. Manny's in a slump, Nomar's banged up (though he's still hitting pretty well lately) and Mueller was sidelined with a bad wisdom tooth. Having suffered through that myself, I can sympathize, but boy, talk about bad timing!

Oh they'll turn it on again, I'm sure. Trot's doing well, Damon's turning it on... we still have a truly amazing lineup (when everyoe's well, that is). But they'd better start backing up Pedro and Wake with some runs, and Burkett had better pitch the way he did v. NY, and the bullpen had better prove their mettle. And the bats had better come to life! Dammit!

It REALLY sticks in my craw that Pedro only has 7 wins in 19 starts, and if you take away that horrible game he had v. Balamer back in April he would have an ERA of 1.79 or something. I read today that's he's on pace for a 10-win season. That's disgusting.
Even if he wins all the rest of his starts he won't make 20, and that's just awful. Of course the W/L record is not an accurate indicator of a pitcher's skill, but still...

Yesterday I started teaching my 19-month-old niece how to say "Nomaaarrr." She's pretty good at it.

my redsox are bumming me out.

4 losses in a row and hardly any hitting.
                just terrible.

I know baseball is an up and down game and you gotta ride those waves, but they've just dropped from 1.5 games out to 4.5 games out and their wildcard lead has evaporated - all in about 5 days.

I know there's a lot of grady sympathizers out there, but I'm not one of you. I really think he doesn't do enough to help his team win. I think if we had a fiery manager right now, he'd wake this team up and get them playing. I've been saying it all season, this guy can't come back next season. It's like a child drivning a cadillac !!

Hopefully, they'll go on a long roll in the positive direction. What a lousey time for a slump - right after the big trades. This is a time for us to make hay - not lose it - we got a bunch of Mariner/A's games coming up - these were games we need to win right now to provide a cushion. Fossum will be called up soon and that'll be the end of the Ramiro Mendoza nightmare.

Anyone know of any good candidates for a smart, fiery manager out there for next year?

Come on Sox, let's start climbing back!
Maybe Suppan's first start soon will get them going. This is depressing. They are making every crappy team and every crappy pitcher look unbeatable right now. They are all swinging at the pitchers pitches instead of waiting for their pitch. None of them are going with the pitch to the opposite field - they're pulling everything. They need to tkae the walk and force the pitchers to throw strikes. I think all the hitting they've been doing has caused them to become over-anxious to accumulate more stats and they've become less disciplined. Maybe they're hitting coach and the mgr aren't doing enough to straighten them out.

                Damn!

                • Fanatic, we've had differences in the past, but I'm a person who prefers maintaining the peace. I believe that the other Boston fans here, as well as fans of other teams (TFAM, Racosun, MetsFan, Sandman, etc) can be asked if they agree with this.

Anyway, I didn't watch yesterday's game, but from what you saw, what did Little do or not do that led to this loss? Did he call for a hit & run which led to someone caught stealing instead? Was a bunt call ill-advised? What did he do that you think he should've done?

I'm also trying to find out, what do you think of his lineups, as well as how he uses the pen, now that he's got a lefty specialist and effectively, two closers (see the "Who Closes?" thread in the Red Sox forum, started by yours truly).

Joe let Andy start the 9th, where he walked the leadoff batter. Mo came in, and with corner runners, Tejada hit one off the wall.

I think that Matsui misplayed it, despite playing the Fenway Monster better, but he never really got a hold of the ball, and though he could've caught it. It was too high, and he didn't play far back enough to catch it on the rebound.

2 runs scored, game over. 4-2 on the west coast trip so far. Oh well, as long as A-Rod doesn't go trotting or strutting off on a walk offer, I'm OK.

                              • Today's Yankees-A's game was like dejavu of a game last year, that the Yanks played against another AL West team. Remember that one Mattingly?
