He probably thinks that they are still racist because the have one white player on the roster.
Spike hates anything Boston..no wonder he's a Yankee fan.
What's with Giambi's 'stache? I thoght Joey Pitbull banned facial hair..he pulled that crap with the Marlins.
That stepping on the guy's feet was what I'd seen in the NYC subways often, and the "I know you stepped on my feet because I'm black" was mentioned quite a few times, accompanied by the monotoned, "No, I didn't step on your feet because you're black" reply. The Bird jersey-wearing guy was just to show something of the type of person (white guy) who was often accused. There were quite a few "Radio Raheems" out there who had their boombox playing loudly.
Spike has said he's been a Yankee fan for ages, but everyone in NYC knows that his #1 team is the orange & blue, the Knicks. He's always being photographed in the front row cheering the team on, is a long-time season ticket holder.
Since he's filmed Nike commercials, he's gotten to be good friends with Air Jordan, whose commercialshe shot. In fact, when Michael returned to the NBA, when he'd gone into Madison Sq Garden, hit the "double nickle" (scored 55 points) in front of a packed A-List celeb crowd, Michael gave Spike the ultimate compliment & souvenir: his Nike sneakers from the game.
Spike once held a press conference apologizing after a dismal Knick playoff elimination, which I've never heard of any fan having done. I think it was in Indiana, he'd been officially invited by that team for that season's playoffa vs the Pacers, since he was seen as the least crazed of the long-time Knick fans.
I've seen Spike pose with Jeter at a game, and they once did a Ford commercial together, but Spike is to the Knicks (along with Woody Allen) what Rudy Guiliani is to the Yanks.
For the Giambino, he hasn't hit squat since around '02 or '03. In Oakland, they were the "party like a rock star, play like an All-Star" crowd, so that looseness helped to make it happen. He seemed to have been taken out of his zone with the clean face. With the 'stache, Giambi's returned to hitting, since he again looks like a bad boy.
I hear that #18 (yup, Boston's fave OFer turned Yankee) also sports the infamous "porn 'stache". He's been hitting well also. Can we get Jeter to wear one also?
Joey is more concerned with wins. Besides, my namesake wore the thick shag on his face long before anyone heard of Giambi or Girardi. Please read Baseball Fever Policy and Forum FAQ before posting. 2007-11 CBA

I know that Red was coaching back then. I was just pointing out that when ol' Peanut Head (as Howard Stern calls him) opened his trap, KC Jones was the C's coach then.
Joey Pitbull not concerned with facial hair??? he sure was in Miami! Let's see HIM grow one.
#18? That's Dice-K...Johnny Who?sigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

Yep, I voted, it was an interesting poll. Now, with the Interleague games mess over, the Red Sox look to exact revenge after a series loss at Houston against Tampa tonight. The Yanks look to improve against the Texas Rangers. Then, the Sox head up to New York to continue the rivalry that'll keep fans in their seats.
Hopefully, Spike Lee won't show up at any of the Sox at Yanks games. :hyper:

I was saying that I personally wouldn't be going there, I refuse to ever give the Rays any of my money, and I know a lot of other Sawx fans here who refuse to now as well.sigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

It's no so much that..it's the Rays' new policy of making visiting fans feel unwelcome. Those two clowns Staats and Magrane certainly don't help.
Back in April when the Sox were here, I went to the final game of the series, sitting in Section 139 in LF. This one usher/security guard asked to see our tickets abour 5 rimes in teh fisrt few innings. Then he came and threatened a guy sitting near my seat, saying that some people reported he was swearing. me and several people told this usher that he was not swearing. "I was told he was..so you (pointimng at him) have been warned." The guy kept coming back and was watching us. The guy who was harassed was from Braintree and he said he sure as hell was never going to come down here again. At that point, I and the people I was with, decided we weren't as well. I live about 10 minutes from there, but it may as be 10 light years away.
I've also foind out that they've hassled Yankee fans and fans of other teams as well
Guess they want to become hated..fine with me. They can do without my money and money from the Yankee fans that live down here.
When the Sox move operations to Sarasota and put a FSL team there, I'll spend most of my time there. I hope the Yankee fans here spend their money watching the Tampa Yankees.
Sorry if I've drifted off the topic.sigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

Oh well, once the Yanks starting winning again (presuming they can actually score some runs, as in more than 2 per game), the smacky-poo shall return. Please read Baseball Fever Policy and Forum FAQ before posting. 2007-11 CBA

I stated my reasons in another thread. Has nothing to do with the Sox.
Even if the Sox won 10 in a row, I would not ever go to the Trop againsigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

So it's basically how they view visiting fans? I guess they're trying to forcibly remove the "they're just the Triple-A Rays" thing, along with the name change.
Now then, does Beantown manage to take 1 game this weekend? Please read Baseball Fever Policy and Forum FAQ before posting. 2007-11 CBA

From the sound of that thread Yankees fans in the bleachers are kinder than the Rays ushers and employees this year...at least the bleacher creatures have some respect for Sox fans
