I say that they should've either named none of them, or name all of them. This bit of selective naming doesn't seem quite Kosher to me.

To the BoSox fans, they play BC every single spring, right?

BC has been playing the Red Sox every year since 1993, the Red Sox have been playing Boston area college teams off and on since 1912(first game at Fenway was against Harvard).

        U. of Michigan plays the Mets, Florida Southern plays Detroit, Manatee Community College plays the Pirates in other college vs. MLB matchups.

That's only within the last few years, the BC game is over a decade older.

What's needed to make a rivalry stand out from all the others?

            My View:

THE rivalry began almost 100 years ago. Ever since, it has taken on a life of its own! It starts at the front office exec's to the players, right down to all the Boston & New York baseball fans (past to present). Unlike other rivalries, these two teams have never re-located, to, or from another city since their inception into the league. They have the same basic team uniforms that date back to before the Titanic sunk! I feel no other rivalry can match this historic Boston Red Sox - NY Yankee rivalry!

            Let the games begin!
            (Added in Nov/2004)
Since the Red Sox made history, as the first team to win a playoff series after being down 0-3 to the Yankees, :choke:, (which enabled them to win their first World Series in 86 years by sweeping the Cardinals), how can anyone doubt that this rivalry is the best in American pro sports . . .

I think your right. No rivals can match the Sox-Yankees hate for each other

True, although down here, the cowbell-ringing idiots are starting to go out of their way to hate us. One fan of that over-ray-ted team actually went to a Reds/Red Sox game to boo the Sox...it was in this week's USA Today Sports Weekly.

Fine...I can hate the Rays now as well.

Personally, I'd prefer to see the Yankees and Rays annihilate each other

Oh...the St. Pete Times had their season's predictions. All but one expert picked the Sox to finish 1st in the AL East..one picked the Yankees and he picked the Sox for the Wild Card.

And...Joey Pitbull was selected as the first manager to be fired during the season

                    • Welcome to 2009, and some things have changed, some have not. The Yanks' thought they got a winning team by going to their all-star team format that they used a few years, only to backfire and get eliminated in the first round. I wonder...will history repeat itself? I say yes, because I don't want to see another Yankees AL East champions for a couple years. Seeing that from 1998-2006 was pretty much an eyesore to me.

Now, who's ready for some baseball?

Some of us others don't warrant one? :hissyfit::ooo:

How did third place feel like again?

Yankees got two "best" pitchers but one of them is a chronic injury sufferer and the other is a cheeseburger away from being too big to pitch

I won't bother rubbing in "A-Fraud" nonsense...even Yankees fans seem to have given up on supporting him any way but on the field

And I'm calling it now: it's the beginning of the end for Jeter with the Yankees and in baseball! He is going to have a down year AGAIN. He will have maybe 160-170 hits but will hit .285-.290 batting average but the ball will be rolling AGAINST him.

Have a nice year, third placers

                          1. Has a meltdown?

                          2. Gets the pink slip from Hanky-Poo?

Anyone care to wager how long before the New York media rips him apart? I give him another bad start

Funny that the Yankees were whining about a fan interference home run when they were given a run due to fan interference earlier in the game...what hypocrites.
