    • Let's hope Atlanta gives the "other" New York team they're faceing tonight a boot out of Atlanta, so they can face the Mets in battered shape. How about that proposition?

      • How can a team like the Red Sox be part of a great rivalry when they went what, 90 years without a championship?

And now that they have reincarnated and won 2 (!), the Yanks have not won any since then

A good rivalry would be (to me) where teams traded key championships in very near years like say the Steelers and Raiders winning 6 of 7 Super Bowls in the 70s/80s

you dont see that anywhere in the Red Sox and Yankees

it is like saying Hank and Tommie Aaron were the greatest home run brother duo in history

technically yes but the homers were all hit by one guy
        1. The more I learn, the more convinced I am that many players are over-rated due to inflated stats from offensive home parks (and eras)

          It's more than that.

          It's also Pats vs Jets/Giants.
          Bruins vs Rangers.
          Celtics vs Knicks.

Boston is about 220 miles from NY. Go to the campus of Boston U. Us MA natives don't call it "Long Island U--Boston Campus" for nothing.

My wife is from Long Island. She's a Met fan. Trust me. If she was a Yankee fan, I never would have given her the time of day.

Also there is a attitude from NYers that seems to take it to another level. We will say the Yankees Suck. they will say Boston/New England Sucks. They will attack the region as a whole, while we confine it to just the Yankees.

It is more than a rivalry..it is a way of life for some.
sigpicMan, do I *HATE* the Yankees!!!!!!

We've always had a soft spot for the Braves...remember where the Braves played until 1951....

            • Shh, I better hide. I fear that someone is going "wabbit hunting" on Red Sox fans, and it may be natural selection. What do I do? It's either someone from Seattle or someone from New York...I better hide before I'm attacked by a swarm of pigeons.

So how about the whole "Yankees Suck" during the Pats' Super Bowl parade? I mean a parade where your team wins and you folks were complaining about a baseball team that had no involvement.

I don't hate New England. Well, I'm not too crazy about some of their fans, but that's another story.

Only if you're a "wascally wabbit" would it be "wabbit hunting".

Speaking of Seattle, as they say over a latte and some Meatloaf, well "2 outta 3 ain't bad".

We knew you Yankee fans would be watching the parade. That's why we yelled it

Keep in mind..."Yankees Suck" is a New England (the region, not the Pats)mantra of sorts.

Well, after the Giants put the kibosh on the Pats, none of us were saying "Red Sox S*ck" or anything like that. A few were tempted to, but we had a championship to remember, and there were two ceremonies: one up lower Broadway's Canyon of Heroes in NYC, and the other in the Meadowlands in New Jersey. Plenty of Yankee fans along the route, since the Giants used to play in Yankee Stadium for many years. I'd love to see what Schill would have to say about that one.

Oh well, how's the wife and kids? Oh, and that loud-mouthed guy on your team, too. Oh, I forgot to say which one.

                      Oh yeah, Papelbum.

Oh, I'm glad that you folks know the number of outs per inning. Wouldn't want to have it any other way.

                          • Yeah. like when?
The Yankees have looked like Little Leaguers the last few days.
Sox have mopped the floor with them.

                              Sneer, sneer, Mr Mcall.

At least the Yanks got the win streak started, and the Melkman Delivered!

Let's just hop that Boston doesn't play many more games against last place Baltimore.

                              • The Angels and Dodgers have a bigger rivalry than I ever knew existed. You commend the Angels on a job well done and immediately Dodger fans will tell you to knock it off or praise all things Dodgers instead.
