    • TFAM, miss you? Nahhhhhhhh.

Seriously, you guys now have Armando Benitez, who I thought was improving in recent games, and we now have Jeff Nelson returned. Which team do you think benefits?

You guys got the better end of that deal, and I'll tell you why: The Mariners have Shigetoshi Hasegawa in the roll of closer right now. He's 8/8 for save/save opportunities. We have Kaz coming off of the DL pretty soon (like possibly tomorrow). We have two very good closers, so what does Gillick do?

He trades one of the best middle relievers in the game today for a friggin' CLOSER! I'm just a little frustrated.

To tell you the truth, all I saw was the Red Sox were picked to win the East and I went to post it fast...
I didn't even notice anything else!

This is the same Ken Rosenthal who predicted the Minnesota Twins would win the World Series? I am detecting a pattern.

                  • No offense Ken, but what it looks like to me is that all Rosenthal did in the AL was take the teams in 2nd in each division and predicted an upset.

But it doesn't work for me Ken. My predictions:

                        NL East: Braves (duh)
                        NL Central: Astros
                        NL West: Giants (duh)
                        NL WC: Marlins

                        AL East: Red Sox
                        AL Central: White Sox
                        AL West: Mariners
AL WC: (As previously stated on this thread) A's defeat the Yankees in a one game playoff for the WC.

                          • do you think we'll be seeing rivera on the DL soon, or is it just a little bad luck?

Yesterday, it seemed to be a little bad luck, but ever since the sox/yankee series, he hasn't looked himself.

Yesterday may not really be bad luck either, as he hadn't recorded an out before the error and base hit.

Anyway, what do ya think? Injury or slump?

                            • Biggerin, it's overuse. Torre put Boomer to start the 8th, and A-Rod hit a solo jack, making a 2 run game a 1 run game.

Mo's not his old self, and a 1 run game isn't always time to think it's a day at the beach with him. Benitez wasn't lights out like hoped for, and unless Mo's got more of a lead, doesn't have to pitch so often, he can't get much better.

Other teams lose a few, so their closer sits. We get into tight games, and Joe keeps going to the same person to close again and again and again. Mo needs a hammock and a beach, R&R and he should be OK.

Hopefully, the starters and Jeff Nelson can keep the oppoing score lower, and Mo doesn't pitch more than 2 consecutive days. Oh, and he should stop respecting Raffy so doggoned much, just attack him like a pit bulldog that he is, the same way he reared back and struck out Bonds last summer!
