        Hey, what are friends for?

Now then, how is that April World Series going? Let's see, you've won 3 games already, so I guess you'll win just 1 more this month and celebrate winning the Big Dance? :balloon: :clowning: :hyper:

          • Ah, the Bombers will be just fine. I see first place, 90 wins at least, and a Red Sucks choke!

It's the Mets and White Sox I'm more worried about.
The Evil Empire shall strike back again!

The Evil Yankee Empire is everywhere. Remember when the Yanks played Tampa Bay ... in JAPAN? The love the pinstripes down there, which is why the Yanks wore these, despite being the road team batting 1st.

Hey, spiffy up those unis (and get a few more wins), and you too can get similar top-shelf treatment. Oh, my bad. Beantown's supposed to win it all this season. I kind of forgot about those after seeing the results.

                Sorry.

Oh gees. It seems we're, (Bitter Rivals forum), are back on this year.

                  OK. It's going to be a bumpy ride . . . .

                  • Just busting your chops, Ken. I'm sure that you guys and gals should win at least 70 games soon. Between now and mid-September, I mean.
Or you folks could ... :choke:

I know you're busting' them. That's what we do best.
                      Win 70 games? Gee, that's awfully nice of you . . .

                        Yeah, aren't I nice? What a guy I am!

Let's see here. The Twinkies and the Mariners aren't doing as well as Beantown. However, Cleveland and Kansas City have winning records, and Baltimore is in 3rd place.

Now then, please wave that "WE'RE #5 AND DARNED PROUD OF IT, TOO" flag, Ken. I'm sure it feels sooooooo good!
                        :headbeat:

Me thinks that you folks will have to win a few more games before you can wear this, but:

Mark who? SDL, the EVIL YANKEE EMPIRE is far greater than any single player. We've got Jeter, Mo, A-Rod, Cano, CC, AJ. One player isn't working out. You may as well be talking about Kei Igawa, whose Yankee tenure is certainly lackluster at best.

Now then, how many weeks will it take for Beantown to become within 2 games of .500? Or should I say, isn't it nice looking up to the Mighty Kansas City Royals (Dorothy & Toto wave hello) and Cleveland Indians? Everyone in the NL except the cross-town Mets are ahead of you. Mark who?

                              Sure, we're in 5th now, but only 1 1/2 out of 2nd.

                              I'll bet we'll be in 2nd place in a few days or so . . .

Now that I've got your attention, what's your opinion on this blog.

(How's the return on NY's investment of $51M been so far?)

"The storied Yankees captain is fresh off signing a three-year, $51 million deal off of what was a career-worst season... at least, it was his career-worst. Now, though? 2011 has a real chance to supplant 2010 as yet another indication of the 36-year-old's decline..."

I don't need to read an article to know what Jeter's problem is offensively, anymore than I need a road map to find my way home.

Jeter still thinks that he's a leadoff or #2 hitter, but he's now a good fit for the #6 spot. Perhaps Swisher could be the #2 instead. Put Jeter behind Posada or Cano and I think that he could do well. Posada's the regular DH now, and he can still hit (at least shots over the wall).

As to why it'll never happen? Nobody dares to do this to him. It's like all the infamy that came about when Torre batted A-Rod 8th in the playoffs one time. A-Rod wasn't hitting a lick, so that was a not-so-subtle reminder.

I don't care what stats or reasoning you put forth, but whenever Jeter has batted poorly in the playoffs, the Yanks have always lost. 2001 is a prime example, but it's obviously not always him.

Same as when Ortiz batted 3rd after he went through a major power slump. Now he bats what, 4th or 5th?

No individual is above the team, and if the player doesn't feel like sacrificing, then the team will eventually lose.
