VT:
I'm not sure how my discussing a Broadway musical from years ago is "sympathy" towards the BoSox.
Oh well, I guess that's why I'd talked about pitching before. It's great to have all that crazy offense, but when facing the Halladays, Mulders and other big names out there, I consider a run prevented just as valuable, if not moreso, than a run scored.
Manny's not hitting? I need to check the box score out some more. I remember that Nomar was hitting, and Ortiz has been knocking the covers off. Has Manny made GIDPs, whiffs, flyouts or what?
As to Lowe, I was wondering if 2002 was like a career year for him, kind of like Boone's 2001 or Bonds in 2001 or 2002. Both are still red hot bats, but a closer who wasn't too reliable, getting booed often at home, converting into a starter, that may not always work. I now wonder what Toronto's Escobar will do next season. Even Kim wanted to start, but Little had other plans.
You mean when Mueller dropped the ball? I saw it on ESPN, and he either dropped it or held it too long. Everyone was safe, so bummer for you guys.
Like someone else said (one of you guys), I'll wait for the next two outings to see if Suppan's the real deal. Meanwhile, Burkett seems to be your #2 or #3 right now, along with Wakefield. Lowe's supposed to be your #2, but last season's numbers haven't returned.
I'm curious, you guys have Sauerbeck, Williamson and Kim. Why would you hope that Pedro goes 9 every time? With Osuna, Nelson and Mo, I think that 7 should be plenty for our guys.
As to teams that can't hit bad pitching, take a number. The best ones have been scouted, and the lousy ones, our team doesn't do well against. It seems their 7+ ERA goes down by at least 0.50 by the time the game's over. Last time, against Clemens I think, we scored a lot, so one nasty habit slowly fading away.
