Certain cheats are acceptable in baseball... if you don't get caught.* And sometimes, even if you do (Google: George Brett pine tar).

Your opinon. At what point does "cheating" cross the line of being an acceptable part of the game?

Well, I think the "traditional" cheats are the only okay ones... :cap:
Stealing the signs, corked bat, doctoring the , etc.... But only until you get caught.

For example, did you know it's against the rules for the pitcher to attempt to deceive the batter? :scholar:
However, in common practice, his job is all about deception.

What about players who excessively used steroids throughout their careers (and 'got caught') which artificially inflated their statistics to place them among the legitimate all-time MLB leaders?

No. That's unacceptable. [IMO, the career and season HR records are still 755 and 60.]

Further, gambling on a baseball game that you've got an active roll in is the worst. I'm not saying Pete Rose shouldn't be in the HoF... I'm saying he should get there posthumously.

You know, I remember as I was reading that post and I read the part where you mentioned (755 & 60), I knew something seemed odd to me but I never gave it a second thought . . . Oh well. -

First of all you couldn't of seen the Green Monster simply because you've been banned from Fenway for years now.
(and) don't get used to it. Remember, the fall from 1st place is much faster than the climb . . . . :stare: - :headbeat:

                    • Ridiculous, AGAIN.
Ortiz has been tested 4 times all with negative results and Shaughnessy comes out with this crap!

"Hitting is not this easy. Athletes do not get better as they mature into their late 30s. Baseball has been peppered with performance-enhancing drugs for the last 20 years. The cheaters are always ahead of the testers. A number of players from the Dominican Republic have tested positive for steroids. Injuries to the Achilles’ tendon are consistent with steroid use. It is not natural for a guy to hit .426 out of the gate without the benefit of any spring training."

                      By The Way,

Jack Morris issues an apology to Clay Buchholz

                      by Igor Mello | CBSSports.com
Blue Jays announcer Jack Morris issued an apology to Red Sox pitcher Clay Buchholz prior to Friday's three-game series at Fenway Park.

Morris, a former major-league pitcher, accused Buchholz of throwing a spitball after watching video of his performance last week.

"I told him I was sorry that I had taken attention away from what he was doing -- that's not what I was trying to do," Morris told ESPN. "I told him to have fun with it. "
