Wow. Gone back to that old Ruth/1918 thing again?
If that's the best retort you've got, it just shows how sad the state of

Well, I was just thinking about how much fun it is to watch your team go back-to-back (or back-to-back-to-back ). It's especially nice when your 12 years old and living right across the freeway from the ballpark (1977-1978). But you'll never know the joy of a childhood championship <sigh>. So sad. :dismay: So sad indeed.

Hmm, it just occurred to me,
the Red Sox have won 8 titles in franchise history. But I've watched the Yankees win SEVEN in my lifetime.

"Pitchers and catchers report!" is just around the corner (Feb. 11/12) and I'll be back in my own colors:

BTW, My wife said you should've "bet caps." Ewww.

      :ooo:

Wow, now that's the old Yankeeman. - - Mmm. It sounds to me like I've hit a nerve.

I started college in September 1978. One of the Umass buildings was across the street from Fenway Park. Needless to say it turned out to be a (very) sad September semester. -

        • * Just an observation

I started the "Bitter Rivals" thread in 2002 and come February, it'll start it's 12th year.

Incredibly, it's now approaching Ten Thousand Posts and has been viewed by over Half a Million People Worldwide!

It just blows my mind. -

But she's a Cubs fan (and still bitter about 2003, so don't bring it up... :silent: UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES! ).

                  • On days like this, sometimes, I almost feel a pinch of sadness for my friend. Almost.

So how did your New York Giants, Jets and for that matter, your favorite Oakland Raiders do Sunday? - :stare:

                    - Your kidding me. Really? All of them? That must suck for you, huh? Then this is probably not a good time to bring this up but . . . -

They suck. But not bad enough to get a draft pick high enough to help... They need a quality (pro set -- no option read b/s!) QB. And that's been the status quo for about 10+ years.

BTW, the Broncos... NOT THE PATRIOTS ...will represent the AFC in New Jersey. :twocents: Just thought you should know before you get too excited.

                        Here's my :twocents:

Did you even see Sunday night's game at Gillette Stadium? He's used to playing in a nice comfy indoor climate controlled dome. What happened to Payton's passing in the 20 degree, 20 MPH wind? His passes were fluttering all night long. His usual pin point accuracy was degraded considerably in the winter elements. Whereas Brady's passes were thrown strong & accurate whether throwing into the wind or not. Don't get me wrong. I have tremendous respect for Manning & I hate facing him because of what he can do. He'll be probably playing outside the rest of the season and it's only going to get colder, snowier and windier. I just don't see it getting any easier for him as the weather gets worse. And as you mentioned, the Super Bowl will be in New York in February and he won't be there.

Oh ya, in case you missed the game on Thanksgiving: cute-blue-good-bye-smiley-emoticon.gif

Jacoby Ellsbury is ready to trade in his Red Sox for Yankees pinstripes, approaching the finish line on serious talks that could deliver Ellsbury to the Bronx with a blockbuster seven-year contract.

A source confirmed that the Yankees and Ellsbury's agent, Scott Boras, have agreed upon the framework of a deal that will pay Ellsbury :flow:153 million guaranteed through the 2020 season. There is also an option for an eighth year that could raise the total value of the agreement to $169 million.

The Yankees have not officially announced the deal, as it is contingent upon Ellsbury passing a physical
