No, let him wander around until he spots the stash of pine tar, and grabs a hunk to lather his neck with it. Nobody noticed him leaving the dugout to pitch the 2nd inning looking like a Dominican Harry Potter...McCann, Girardi, Jeter, and not even his pitching coach! If it was someone else's idea then why the neck rather than someplace less noticeable. I didn't see him once touch his neck.

At least he didn't walk out to the mound with a syringe hanging from his butt.

Yeah, it's just the Yankees [see Jon Lester in Game 1 of the 2013 World Series]. roof:

Also, I never complained about this. Mostly because he used it when he pitched for us! Further, anyone who pitched college ball in the Northern U.S. (season starts in March) has used pine tar to keep a grip on the ball. Myself included. :stare: [Please note that, unlike <ah-hem> Vaseline, pine tar does not alter the flight of the ball.]

The real thing here is he was so blatant. It's disrespectful to the Red Sox, an affront to the umpire, and an embarrassment to the Yankees.

          • Both teams come out of this series licking their wounds. My only excuse for the poor fielding by the Red Sox is the cold weather.

It's a small Midwestern school but I've heard of it. I won't knock Yankees pitching on this thread.

I see Paul O'Neill's nephew is in the Yankees organization now. He has some speed according to your school's website.. They better buy a few more sturdy water coolers.

                  • Pine tar does more than just provide grip. Better grip gives pitches more bite and movement. It's not erratic movement like greasing a ball. But pine tar enhances performance. The thing is MLB hitters would rather the pitcher have better bite on his movement than take a poorly gripped pitch in the ribs in cold weather.

Pinieda has a reputation for being intellectually several notches below rocket scientist. To be more pointed he's not the sharpest tool in the shed. All he had to do was put the pine tar in the palm of his glove glove hand or under his visor.

I was joking. The University of Michigan is one of the largest universities in the country. Indeed, Michigan Stadium has the largest seating capacity of any stadium in the U.S., the university also has the largest (in population) living alumni in the world, had a U.S. President (Ford) as an alum, and, further, the Apollo 15 mission had an all U-M Alumni crew.

And don't get me started on the successes of the football team... Or the best "fight song" ever! :gt

You are obviously proud of your alma mater as you should be. Mine only produced one mayor and a few stoned out paragliders. But we had a great view of the largest Section 8 housing this side of Detroit.

He may of had some success playing, I'm not sure? He may have been a sixth round draft chioce? -

Nope, never heard of him. But, like I said, it's a BIG (10) school. :clown:

BTW, Ken, I can't get too upset with how things got rolling in New England when the Jeter championship era started with this.

Clearly that was not a home run because of a (SMART/IDIOT) fan interfered by reaching into the playing field taking the ball out of the right-fielders glove & there was a right field umpire too!
On another subject. I noticed your new signature pic of your Rangers. I'd like to extend to you much like the same bet that I accepted from you.

What's say we bet sigs & avs on who gets furthest in the NHL playoffs. You take your mighty Rangers and I will take my lowly Bruins.

I'll take the bet if BOTH teams make the conference finals (av's and sig's until the start of the All-Star Game).
