3-2 Yankees in the first game, even though it wasn't a pretty win. Red Sox got both runs thanks to defensive miscues and Yankees ran themselves out of two innings with bad baserunning decisions but Chapman got the last out to keep Betts in the on-deck circle.

Good game. I just wish the Sox had both their aces pitching in this series. But they'll be meeting a dozen more times this season.

Unbelievable comeback win but the more they keep doing it, maybe it's not so unbelievable after all! Jonathan Holder, who bailed them out in the Top 8th is the same guy who a few weeks ago looked awful and inept against the Orioles. But that's kind of showing how this team is starting to exude a vibe like the 98 Yankees, which was finding different ways to win and with different people in a balanced roster rising to the occasion.

I think this is going to be a historic pennant race with both teams headed for 100+ wins season. Along with Houston, there could be a 100+ win team that won't be in the ALCS . . .

1. The Yankees are on pace to win 111 games.
2. The Red Sox are on pace to win 109 games.
3. The Astros are on pace to win 107 games.
4. The Mariners -- yes, the MARINERS! -- are on pace to win 104 games.

Well, I can certainly understand the NY fans feeling regarding Gray's record against Boston. Prices record against NY is abysmal too. But, if you compare the contacts of both, Price's salary is $30M yearly. Gray's is $6.5M. So I contend that Price sucks on a much higher level than Gray.

What was supposed to be an extended series between two of the sport's best teams has instead been a one-sided affair. The Red Sox have won all three games by at least three runs. Should the Red Sox win again Sunday, it'll be about time to put the Yankees' divisional hopes to bed.

At that point, the Yankees would trail the Red Sox by 9 ½ games in the American League East. With 52 games remaining after Sunday, the Yankees would have to go on an unlikely tear, as well as have the Red Sox plummet. To illustrate that point, consider that the Yankees can go 36-16 -- that is, play like a 112-win team -- the rest of the way. But, if the Yankees lose Sunday, they'd need the Red Sox to go 24-25 in order to win the division outright. Considering Boston entered Sunday with 34 losses, that outcome is ... well, improbable.
