Normally, I'd say we'd go 4-1 against Boston in an ALCS, like in 1999. However, I'd put Mussina or Pettitte against him and I think we'd win.

We don't fear Pedro. He may dominate, but he hasn't slayed us yet. A bit of extra work, but we always get our man.

Yeah, but Sauerbeck put two on, then Williamson grooved a flying souvenir. Other than BH Kim, that's the heart of your pen, isn't it?

Sorry, pal, Theo worked time and a half to get those guys, so fess it up, just like we did when Nellie and Mo weren't too great.

Nellie's been the man the last two games, and with the rest, Mo saw the minimum 3 batters in the 9th. Hey, our guys are still hungry, show they still want to win.

Yeah, but then you'll be asking, "Where's the Beef?"

Hmmm, I think that Boston pitchers are now asking "Where's the bats?" Oh well, nice having 4 guys over .300, but losing a 3-2 game on a late inning HR stinks.

Well now, next month makes 85 years. I hadn't even realized that game was played in September, and it was best of 9 back then. Anyway, I think I like them odds.

              • Two games now...

I've seen two Yankee games in the last two weeks.
                1st one was Baltimore Fall-down.
2nd one was today, KC over runs second base & gets tagged out which would have been the tying run.
You guys will win the East, but that horseshoe must be awfully uncomfortable shoved way up there . . .

Mariano & the bullpen in general, will be your downfall...

The 1918 World Series was a best-of-seven. The Red Sox beat the Cubs in six games. The series concluded on September 11th, 1918 with a 2-1 Sox win.

The next year the series would revert to best-of-nine, until 1922 when it would return to best-of-seven (and has remained that way.)

The difference between the good teams and a championship team is that the later wins games that it should have lost.

Further, the difference (roughly) between the team in first place and last is typically the "rubber match" game in a three game series but spread over a 162-game season.

                    NOTE:

                    1 of 3 = .333 or 54 Wins

                    2 of 3 = .667 or 108 Wins

I've heard that, with each million in local revenue, the bank gives you one of those little boxes of finger lube, AND that, with each $100 million in revenue that you hide from MLB (and therefore from revenue sharing) by starting your own network, and underpaying for your own broadcast rights, they'll even send over a couple of kids to rub up the horseshoe for you.

well - you can take it to the bank.

after tonight's atrocity, the redflops are done for another year.

time for all the chokers to pad their stats and blame other people for yet another year.

this season was disgusting. if that hillbilly comes back to manage again next year then mgt has no clue and I won't watch a game.

this team needs leadership and fire.
                            sad.

and don't give me that hooyey they're still not out of it crap. their painful to watch and just god awful.

                                you've bought yourself another title.

                                george's wallet belongs in cooperstown.

the combination of sox mgt going with grady little, and george steinbrenner willing to spend close to 200 million to win, was more than any team could overcome.

                                Little is an embarassment.
