  • Clayton, Billingsley, Bronxton vs Chamberlain, Hughes, Kennedy

Who do you take if you where starting a franchise?

  • #2
    Let's see....

    Kershaw/Chamberlain: Wash
    Billingsley/Hughes: Hughes
    Broxton/Kennedy: Broxton

I'd go with the Dodgers trio, simply because they're more proven, but it's close.

I hate myself for saying this, but the Yanks have the better IMO.

Dodgers' Trio. Broxton and Billingsley are proven. Kershaw is a higher ranked prospect than Joba.

No, he's not. Chamberlain, deservedly or not, is #3. Kershaw is #7.

The lists I've seen Chamberlain is below Kershaw.

I think that Joba and Kershaw have around the same potential, but the fact that Kershaw is a lefty puts him slightly ahead for me. Billingsley and Hughes are comparable, but Billingsley is more proven. Usually, I would take a starter over a closer, but Broxton has such good stuff and is proven, so I think he is a notch above Kennedy. I would probably take the Dodgers right now, but it is very close, and I could see it going either way.

Baseball America's is the best, and it's the one I go by. They have Chamberlain 3 and Kershaw 7.

                    Still, these are better comparisons:
                    Billingsley vs. Hughes
                    Broxton vs. Chamberlain
                    Kershaw vs. Kennedy

In all of those, the Dodgers' trio beat the Yankees' trio.

I guess if you want to go by role and experience, then that's the best way, but if you rank them 1-3 based solely on prospectness, then it's how I had them earlier.

Hughes, Broxton, and Billingsley aren't prospects. So going by 'prospectness' doesn't make sense.

Assuming they were all prospects. Their status shouldn't matter.
