  • Awful And Awesome Announcing

Shouldn't BBF have an awful and awesome announcing thread? I think so! :cap:

    Here's an example of awful:

Watch this clip of the last play of a Yanks/Twins game from April (starting at the 1:45 mark)...
    http://minnesota.twins.mlb.com/video...nt_id=20742181

....and then listen to John Sterling's call of it here...
    http://www.awfulannouncing.com/2012-...ast-night.html

Feel free to post a story, video, or audio clip of some awful or awesome announcing.

You could just have a thread of crappy Sterling calls.

As much as I dislike Sterling, he is Vin Scully compared with that idiot from the White Sox crew who says "mercy!" I forget his name at the moment.

Can we just put them together on the all-time worst crew?

I wouldn't mind that! A caller on WFAN today said that Sterling made "the worst call he's ever heard" just a day or two ago, but I don't know what it was. If anyone knows what it was, please let me know.

That's classic. I'm a Yankee fan but not a fan of Waldman or Sterling. My favorites are Scully (of course), Gary Cohen and Jon Miller. Another of my least favorite is Harrelson and Ston (White Sox).

Dewayne Staats is above everyone else.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

If hitting a baseball is the toughest thing to do in sports, then pitching must be the easiest thing to do in sports.

I actually think Chip Caray is an outstanding broadcaster, as is his partner Joe Simpson, but he is allowed the occasional slip up. This is so great:

I say the same about Rosie O'Donnell. If there wasn't a title on the video, I could've sworn Rosie was calling the action.
