I was thinking about the Whitesox alltime team the other day while reading about Whitesox catchers and I never realized this until afterwards but the Whitesox and Cubs have never had a outfielder who was a first ballot caliber type player. The Cubs had Billy Williams, Sammy Sosa, Andre Dawson and Hack Wilson while the Whitesox had Magglio Ordonez, Joe Jackson, Minnie Minoso and I guess you could put Jim Landis as one of the best outfielders. Unless i'm forgetting somebody I would have to say these are the best.
It's pretty amazing how two clubs with well over 200 years between them have only come up with these guys. I would have to say Billy Williams is the best because he was more of a career Cub than Joe Jackson who really had his best years in Cleveland.
The Cubs could also have Kiki Cuyler and Riggs Stephenson too but neither of them are close to being first ballot types either.
Goofy post I know but I was kinda bored.
