  • Do you ever watch games outside your primary team?

Do you ever watch games that do not involve your favorite team? (Regular season only)

Like say you're an Angels fan. Would you ever watch an ESPN or FOX game between the Padres and Brewers?

As a Met fan, I never watch any game outside of NYM. I try to watch the Yankees when the Mets are off, but I get bored.

I cannot enjoy a baseball game without having any interest in one of the teams winning.

I'm a diehard Yankees fan, but I''ll switch from YES to SNY during commercial breaks to see what the Mets are up to. I enjoy watching the Mets even though I'm not a "fan" per se. Don't care much for any other teams, though. Plus with ESPN and FOX, you're guaranteed to have a horrendous broadcasting team, which doesn't help either.

That being said, I did watch Game 6 of the 2011 World Series between the Cardinals and Rangers and was at the edge of my seat the entire time.
    My top 10 players:

    1. Babe Ruth
    2. Barry Bonds
    3. Ty Cobb
    4. Ted Williams
    5. Willie Mays
    6. Alex Rodriguez
    7. Hank Aaron
    8. Honus Wagner
    9. Lou Gehrig
    10. Mickey Mantle

Sometimes I watch Dodgers games just to listen to Vin Scully.

And I always watch the playoffs, no matter who's in 'em.

Very rarely, if at all. I remember growing up I'd watch the Saturday game of the week no matter who was on. Now I catch as many Mets games as possible, and that is pretty much it until the playoffs. I will flip during Mets commercials, particulalry to the Yankees, but more to see the score then to watch.

Will watch some end of season "playoff-like" games, but never watch a random ESPN game in August.

I never watched any team except Whitesox until I joined fantasy baseball.

As much as two five-year old twins allow me to, yes. I love baseball. I even watch AL baseball sometimes. Ok, that's a sarcastic joke, but honestly, if I'm not watching the Giants, and it's between an AL game and an NL game, I'm taking the NL game. AL baseball is just not as enjoyable to watch.

All the time. MLB.com has a great deal with a free game daily . . .I don't subscribe so occasionally I like to watch 2 different teams in a venue I'm not familiar with and announcers I'm not used to . . . not all are bad, not all are good.
                Some's basturds, some's ain't, thats the score.

aren't you asking in another thread why is baseball not as popular any more

your own words kind of describe it very well

Except for the occasional post-season game I don't. If I'm in the car and have XM on I sometimes listen to some broadcast teams that I like, generally the White Sox, Yankees or As.

Yes! Most certainly! I have mlb.tv subscription so I can watch all the out of market games. The Yankees had a day game today so I will probably watch the Rangers game tonight to check out Darvish.

If there are some major stars or future HOFers playing, yes. If it is two teams with nobody care about, no. I'll find another way of spending my rare leisure time. So if Roy Halladay is starting, I'm watching. If it is the Royals vs. the Orioles...not so much.

When there's nothing to watch, yeah. But I don't watch them inning-by-inning like I do when my team is involved. My attention span is too short to pay attention to two teams that I don't care for. Same reason why I've never watched a full handegg game. That's because I don't have an NFL team.
Using a stolen chant from Boston Celtics fans whenever an L.A. team is playing up there just reeks of inferiority complex.

Since I live outside the U.S. I don't get to watch many games. Because of Shin-Soo Choo, Indian games are broadcast here in Korea, but I recently moved to a new city where the cable company doesn't seem to carry them. Earlier in the season I enjoyed watching Indian games regularly, and I'm not an Indians fan.

When I got a two-week free trial of MLB TV for voting for the All-Star Game, I regularly checked out other teams' games. I could probably afford to buy MLB TV, but since most of the games are on when I'm either at work or asleep, it's not really worth the money for an approximately two-hour window where I can follow games live during the weekdays. Watching games that have already ended isn't bad, but again, not really worth shelling out the money for.

If following games over MLB Gameday counts as "watching" games, then yes, I do that frequently with teams besides my own. Right now I have the Angels-Rangers game on, and I'm frustrated that the Rangers are losing yet again. I suppose I've sort of adopted the Rangers this year, as I love their current core and hope they win the World Series, but officially I'm a Cubs and White Sox fan.

Overall, to answer the question, yes, I do. As I've come to realize in the last few years, I'm a fan of baseball first and my primary teams second, so I'll watch just about any game.

I usually only watch/listen to Mets games but I do watch the free game from MLB.com if I like the game and occasionally watch ESPN Sunday night games involving non-Mets teams. For example, I watched an ESPN game between the Cubs and Cardinals last season out of boredom; the Cards won.
The Mets have the best, smartest fans in baseball.
