To Reach 2,000 career hits in 2013, Ibanez Must Go Elsewhere

Here's a fact about Raul Ibanez. He needs 117 hits to reach 2,000 hits. He should leave the Yankees if he wants to reach that goal. Girardi will never give him enough playing time to get 450 at bats to get that number of hits by the end of 2013 (assuming Ibanez is still capable of hitting .260 with increased playing time). He needs a situation where he is the #1 Designated Hitter and hits against both righthanders and lefties and only is rested occasionally to keep him fresh. Splittng Left fielder and Designated Hitter duties with Andruw Jones killed Raul's timing for most of the year. He was hitting .225 when miraculously he "got his second wind" and started smashing clutch home runs and base hits with amazing regularity in the final weeks of the season. A .278 lifetime hitter, even with his closing hitting spurt, his final .240 batting average was still the worst of his career since he became a regular back in 2002.

Raul Ibanez once had a dream. You may know it as reality.

There is actually only one being who is vast, hyperintelligent and pandimensional. He manifests himself alternately as Chuck Norris, Jack Bauer, and Raul Ibanez. Also Rory Williams from Doctor Who.

    Raulus Ibanezus Invictus.
