There are approximately 30 players from the 19th century whose surname is not known, so I thought it would be interesting to create a team based on these names. All of the players named played at the position they are listed, except for 1B, where I had to have a 3B as a "ring-in".
1B - Jones - 1885 NY Metrpolitans (AA) .250
2B - Hellings - 1875 Brooklyn Atlantics (NA) . 250
3B - Scott - 1884 Baltimore Monumentals (UA) . 226
SS - Quinlan - 1874 Philadelphia Whites (NA) . 250
LF - Evans - 1875 New Haven Elm Citys (NA) .500
CF - Wills - 1884 Washington Nationals (AA)\Kansas City Cowboys (UA) .139
RF - Sullivan 1875 New Haven Elm Citys (NA) . 375
C - McCloskey 1875 Washington Nationals (NA) . 175
P - McDoolan 1873 Baltimore Marylands (NA) 0-1, 3.00 ERA
Bullpen
Smith 1884 Baltimore Monumentals (UA) 0-0, 9.00 ERA
Stein 1890 Philadelphia Athletics (AA) 0-1, 9.00 ERA
McGuire 1894 Cincinnatti Reds (NL) 0-0, ERA 10.50
No HRs were hit by these players, so small-ball offence would be the strategy. With that bullpen, McDoolan would have to do a Cy Young and pitch a complete game!
