Went with good for the Red Sox only... they are getting rid of a trouble maker in Manny, also dumping off a HUGE contract and gettin an OF who will probably start to match Manny's production in a year or 2 (as Manny declines, and Granderson gets better)
Not to mention they get a very good shortstop in Guillen, who is probably a top 7 SS in the majors...

Bad for both equally in my opinion. Guillen, when healthy, is very, very good. Granderson could be a star in the very near future. Manny is still an offensive force, and they can't afford to lose a player of his magnitude for what could turn out to be so little in immediate return if Guillen can't stay healthy. Plus there is the money issue. But I would be incredibly suprised if it happened anyway.

I would hate to do this trade.
We give away one of our top prospects, and our all-star shortstop, for an outfielder who we'll probably only have for a few more years? We finally have a top-notch prospect in Granderson, the last thing I want to do is just trade him away. I also don't think that Illitch is going to want to shoulder most of Manny's salary, which we surely would have to take.
Bad trade.I like cranberry sauce.

As good as Carlos Guillen is, he is getting to the end of his career. Granderson is probaly one of the best young talents, I remember how he torched the Angels with his bat going 4 for 5 with an in-the-parker and his glove. Manny has at least five years left in him. Overall, it's just an odd trade, so no."The AL Team representing Orange County" - Joe Buck "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim near the Arrowhead Pond, south of Santa Barbera" - Dan Patrick "The Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim of California of USA...near San Juan Capistrano" - Peter Gammons...Chris Berman
